[outdated] King of the Forest (Crit version)

Has anyone tried pathing to Vaal Pact? What did you sacrifice to do so? Worth it?

Also, do you all use GMP still if you're using Death's Opus instead of Reach of the Council?

Hey , I did him twice , just buy 2x breach rings with chaos res and life.
I went into his arena > dropped a vaal lightning trap infront of his face > wither totem > atked him with frenzy > pop all flask and blink into his face and barraged him down in 2sec.

edit: also for all ppl that dont have much currency, guys just farm maps constantly, dont pick up shit like armored scrap etc, do some uber labs and dont stand idle in ur HO, MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY

I never felt the need for Vaal Pact and I've done T15 maps, Atziri, Pale Court, other Unique maps etc. Maybe if you want to facetank more, you might go for it. I'd sacrifice some damage or evasion nodes to get there.

As for Opus, I only bought my Reach yesterday, and before that with Opus, I never used even LMP. I did have +1 Arrows Drillneck though.

I use Vaal Pact and I like it a lot.
If you have at least 6K life, you can facetank several bosses...
I don't have much experience with high level bosses, but I facetanked Ubber Izaro without destroying any of his defenses and killed him with barrage.
And you don't die in breachs and you level easier.
But there is a big problem: Trials... The traps kill you faster, because you don't have regen and even if you are in a safe spot, if you don't have more life flasks, you probably will die. So you need to reach the next mobs pack to replenish your life flasks to be able to do the next traps. This is the only situation where Vaal Pact is very bad.

What's about projectile weakness as a curse? It should double dip on all damage, so increasing damage massively - otherwise only a defensive curse looks good.

Applying it via linking to frency and COH gem should be possible - normal trash should be doable without it on 1 shot.

Hi guys. I am liking this build a lot. I am level 92 at this moment.
I am not following the tree exactly, because I decided to take Vaal Pact and also do some minor adaptations to what I felt necessary.

IMPROVEMENT for the Tree:
There is a simple, fast and easy improvement for the tree in main post (First Post):
   Look at the top right Jewel Socket (Exactly Above "Blood Drinker").
It uses 2 nodes of intelligence. If you are not lacking intelligence, you can substitute this socket for the one only a little bit bellow (3 points bellow) and get two nodes of "4% increased projectile damage". As I was writing it I remembered that I was having a problem with lack of inteligence some days before... so it's only worth if you are not lacking intelligence for gear or gems that you use...


My gear at the moment is this:






I tryed to have all gems in level 20 with 20% Quality.
I have only one exception that is "Added Chaos Damage" that is level 21.

I use Warlord's Mark for life leech and mana leech.
And I use Grace too (for the evasion increase and speed increase of "Queen of the Forest").
I use also a Life Leech gem, so I can leech more, because I chose to use Vaal Pact... Unfortunately I loose a gem slot... :)

Can anyone give me advises about improvements for my gear ?

Is Acuracy very important ?
I am asking because I feel that the arrows doesn't hit as I expected...
I answer my own question: IT'S VERY IMPORTANT !!!
I bought a ring righ now, with accuracy and good mana regeneration and now I can really one shot trash mobs in T1. Before I needed 2 shots. Of course if the shots are very fast it doesn't matter, but now I feel stronguer.
The explanation is: If you don't have accuracy, you don't hit easily, and if you don't hit you don't do damage, so Critical Strikes are out of question (You only crit if you hit).

Well your gear is so good you should be able to down him without having problems. Shame if that good gear is required to kill Shaper or any other end-game boss.

Well your gear is so good you should be able to down him without having problems. Shame if that good gear is required to kill Shaper or any other end-game boss.

Ye did all endgame contempt without problems , gotta admitt that I failed the first 4 or 5 shaper runs, and first 2 uber atziri runs but after I learned the mechanics, everything is ez now. edit; OP killed shaper with much less good gear, I think just the ad phase is hard, but with vaal lightning trap its easy doable!

@those that use vaal pact, I think OP stated that its not neccesary to use it, since we have high MS to dodge attacks, this build is not meant to facetank everything, if you wanna facetank then u also could switch qotf for belly or something else.
