My Kitava's Thirst test - It behaves a little weird?

How do you get 100 mana spent per skill use on a melee range build? Do you mean something like two different Blade Vortex link ups?

If you stack "increased mana cost" jewels and items you can get 100 cost on almost any skill.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

I have tested it with berserker (mana leech node in there) using freezing pulse which is most effective in blade vortex range, its still kinda smaller aoe on blade vortex than i would wish. With this setup having 0.35 cast speed (with echo, mana spent every 0.7) had ~2-4 stacks of BV which is just enough.

Two BV setups would work poorly together, since you would need at least the same amount of BV stacks to trigger ele equilibrium as damaging BV (which is 10-20), to get there you would need 30-60 casts which is unrealistic.

It seems that the only viable spell if you don't want to be in melee range is Arc (putting minion skills aside).

However, here two ideas how Kitava's could be used:

1) Utilize Oro's Sacrifice to rapidly gain Frenzy Charges and Discharge with Kitava's.

2) Equip The Scourge, stack up loads of minion damage and use Kitava's for SRS.

/EDIT: And the interaction with Soultaker would be pretty interesting.

This isn't entirely true from the testing I've done (and thank you for making this thread OP, I came to make the same one).

My plan for this character was to use phys crit Kinetic Blast to clear trash, and then also use it to kill bosses by proccing Magma Orb, Fireball, and Arctic Breath. All of the AoE and projectile passives and buffs would apply to all aspects of the build.

I came to make this thread because, at first, I had the same experience of my projectiles shooting out all over the place randomly, which was terribly disappointing. But I thought I noticed something. When I was close to mobs (like melee close) the projectiles always seemed to lock in on the target. Always. All 3.

I started testing going farther and farther away from high HP mobs like Brutus, and essence rares. Alira. Stuff like that. I think, if you look at this picture:

https://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/pathofexile.gamepedia.com/2/2a/Point_Blank_distance.jpeg

the magic distance is 35 units. At 35 units or closer, your projectiles target. Farther away they are random. I'd love for more people to test this for themselves, but out of hundreds of procs in melee range, I didn't have a single projectile miss a target when engaged in 1v1 combat.

I'd also love to hear from GGG if this is intended behavior, because if I'm right, I may have to respec and build around point blank and use like 40 regrets on this character =/

Yes, I noticed exactly the same thing as well, but hadn't mentioned it here yet. In the first video I posted, if you notice the time when I'm tryng to kill a rare Knitted Horror, I spend a while trying to target it from afar, then finally move closer and you can see the targetting improves a lot. I also considered speccing around Point Blank because of that as well :P

But since then I've moved to trying to make Kitava's work with AoE skills. Currently having fun with Ice Nova, also successfully tested Firestorm.

I'm loathe to go the AoE route you suggest since my first Essence League character is Ice Crash. I'd basically be playing the same thing as a point blank Kitavas =/

If there were just one more skill like Arc that would target at the edge of the screen...damnit.

Idk, maybe I'll stick with it and learn to love and trust my decoy totem, but I'm pretty disappointed in the situation.
Can you put in 2 arcs?

Yes, it will cast both together each proc.
I made a new build with Kitava's, going for AoE instead of Projectiles this time. It's been working great with Firestorm!

Here's a video of it running Beach at level 67:
