My Kitava's Thirst test - It behaves a little weird?

Currently using this helmet in my Firestorm build. Just picked one up when 6 link Firestorm went over 100 mana, figured I would test some.

As an elementalist, I need to use a lightning skill to proc 25% fire penetration on mobs, so I chose Arc. I used the otehr 3 slots for Minion Damage and Minion Speed, and threw Skeletons in there.

I am always Arcing, and always have full skeleton crew. Not sure if its worth it with the loss of HP, but maybe there is better stuff I can slot in to make it so. Targetting spells are completely whack though, so sticking with stuff that can just cast, like ice/shock novas too.

I haven't played Elementalist yet, but from the wording in Mastermind of Discord I think you have to manually use a lightning skill to proc the fire penetration. So triggering it won't work, I think.

Need to run Ubers yet to get those ascend points, but hope it works :(

Otherwise, I think I will do Arc, Curse on Hit, Warlords Mark and perhaps Temp Chains or something on my dual curse Ele/Firestormer.

Do you happen to use Spell Echo? Does each cast of Echo have a chance of triggering it? Or if one cast triggers do both casts trigger?

My conclusions so far is that it won't work well offensively with projectiles, except maybe spark since it's already random anyway. It can work really well offensively with spells that don't need specific targetting so much such as firestorm or ice nova.

The other use where it might really shine is in more of a support / addon role casting curses or other support spells. You can have permanent molten shell, for example.

I was hoping to use the helmet to proc Contagion or Frostbolt but it doesn't work like I hoped it to be :(
When you put 4 identical gems it's still 30% chance to proc so it's pretty useless cause you just can't count on it :/
Even for curses.

So, either you cast everything at once or nothing at all. In high tier maps lottery like this will kill you.

Yea, I was a little frustrated too because I thought my EK build with it would work. But hey, I'm now using the same items I got for that build in a different one with firestorm and it works great :)

for damage purpose it can be used with elemental equilibrium and socketed blade vortex with small elemental damage on it, it will be most useful for melee range builds thou.
