nice, you play what you like when you like and the way you like, as it is the custom of playing in PoE in general.

for some of us players, unfortunately this custom in PoE has drastically changed with the advent of the forced-lab.

I agree with you. Last 2 points for some players in uber can be really difficult.
But the last 2 points are truly optional. i can get behind the argument that the first 6 points aren't really optional because I can agree that those help define a build. But those last 2 points...not so much. I made 2 characters and only did uber lab with 1 of them. I'm ok with that. The build was pretty much complete with the 6 points from the previous labs.

Out of the handful of builds I have made since prophecy and uber lab started, I haven't even been able to find a way that makes the last 2 points mandatory for any build. Closest was that it would greatly enhance my rf chieftain, but it didn't define it or relied on it in any shape... Kind of like the first 6 points...

I kid. I too agree that the 6 points aren't very optional, however people keep whining like they have to do the lab 30 times for 2 points or something. I still think that if you take it slow and get your points, you only have to do it 4 times total and will only take you like a half an hour total.

Since we're discussing beetles, let's talk about June bugs. They can't figure out how to fly without going full speed into walls. They don't understand why they keep hitting walls and think the walls are the problem. Doesn't occur to them that the problem is that they are too stupid to fly around the walls.

The other analogy is funny because it is true, while this one is a blatant lie!
What's a lie?

The analogy is.

Lets see:
7.5 minutes per lab run.
On the first run, so without knowing the daily layout details.
While "taking it slow".
With a newish incomplete "random" build - so not one made for lab running.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!

I think his time is a bit off depending on when you want to do the lab. But as for without knowing the daily layout, that shits up in like 15-20 min after the reset, maybe an hour at most, if your playtime is so limited you cant wait until the information is shared, you have other issues to consider.

well, I used to reroll between 5 to 8 chars every league.
because I either died or just I left the current build to roll another one.

I also mentioned in my post that in the 48h fb ssf race, I couldn't hold my nose and run the lab even once in normal (no offence GGG but I really don't like forced-lab!).
I'd say 15 minutes per lab is probably more realistic. So an hour total out of the hundreds of hours played on a character.

As far as layout goes, it's not that hard. I don't even use the lab notes anymore. The names of the areas tell you what to expect. Anything that sounds like a room such as annex has no other exits. Anything that sounds like it continues like passageway or hallway does have other exits. So keep going through the continuing areas until you hit a golden door. The key areas are always nearby so go to the deadend room to get the key and then keep going. Once you know that going into an annex or reliquary when you don't need a golden key, you just keep looking for another exit.

Yeah, I kind of implied the 30 minutes for all 4 difficulties is kind of a "know what you are doing and look up the daily layout on poelab.com" sort of thing. I honestly can see the lab taking like up to an hour each difficulty, especially for newer players, but like goetz said and I want to add on, is taking like 4 maybe 5 hours (6 if we include trials in the calculation for slow/new people) tops to get all your points really that terrible when most of us will easily admit to spending at least 2 hours a day on this game per league?
