Detailed Atlas Mechanics
" what is stupid on the possibility to have the same map type drop in a 5 tier higher version all the time? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

if you shape T10 you like, now that map is T15 and can only drop in T13+ maps

So if I get it right, I just have to wait for players to farm red maps (or make an alt account to do so), use them and I'll only drop red maps and 4 white for the rest of my life ?

I'm scared. This sounds too complicated. The way I interpret this is "map a lot, eventually find bonus maps here and there, keep mapping more and more until you get so bored, and then hope you find the right map you need to get on to the next map, and so on". OR I could just buy maps from people and complete my quests faster and save myself the heartache. That sounds more like a universal language we can all understand. I dunno GGG, this map idea seems kinda lame... I don't think it's the endgame maps i care for. I mostly care for maybe another Act or storyline added on. Maps bored me especially cuz every time i've ever played this game and played high level maps it always dropped me 1 or 2 levels below the high level one so i never found progression from it. I hope maybe with your "Map Idea" it will mean that you will allow higher level maps to fall easier than before? I'm still confused on this whole map thing. I am afraid it will discourage other players from keeping interest.

Problem with these mechanics is that players can "ruin" own atlas for entire league. Increasing maps drops for each map completed is not good enough incentive for exploring all maps because increased maps drop rates goes with increased maps pool witch is not optimal for players in situation were not all maps in tier are equally good.
My solution to this problem is using mechanic similar to Warbands league. Have everyday random pool of maps affected by desired and undesired effects. Pushing players to run different maps everyday and giving them advantage for exploring whole atlas - get access to all positively affected maps each day. This mechanic could be made "smart" by adding negative effects to overplayed maps in day and positive effects to maps played least in last day. | |
" I dont think its worth it, the chance of getting a high map drop should still be very low, and everytime you hit the chance of geting a tier 2-10 map, you only get a t1 map ... so overall you get a shit load of t1 maps and the same low amount of "good" maps. At least you should have unlocked a map from every tier. but maybe im wrong :D Last edited by Tight_04#6847 on Aug 24, 2016, 8:04:46 AM

" That's how i understand it too, but on top of that you also need to wait for people to figure out which maps are best, as in best layout, best exp ratio since gorge might be shit map now and some other map can be beast. Also you will maybe want to unlock some maps you dont like playing but you want to farm new crafting bases or div cards, but imo that wont be worth it. |

So nice, all i wanna know now is can i use multiple shapers orbs to bring a map from say 1 to 15?

" Roughly, yes, but it depends on the exact mechanics. In any case that strategy will not make finding red maps more likely. That is, the problem isn't with tiers (or red/yellow/white), it's with layouts. If, say, Gorge and Orchard are on the same tier, and you've played only Gorge, then every time you find a map of that tier it will be a Gorge map. However, if you now play Orchard, even only once, then from that moment on, for every character in that league (hi, Standard players!), you have a 50/50 chance of maps of that tier being either Gorge or Orchard. The other part, which would open up this system to abuse, would be if running a "new" map unlocks just that map and not the entire path up to it. If it doesn't and you just get the new map, you can cherrypick the maps of each tier that you want to be able to find. What I think is more likely is that it functions the same way as legacy maps, meaning it unlocks the entire path to this map. This will mean that you can't unlock all the high maps (guardians in particular) within screwing with which maps are unlocked at lower tiers. In either case, there will be the serious risk of bricking your atlas at the account level, by, e.g., forever turning 50% of your Gorges into Orchards.
