[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" ES recharge doesn't work when you are tanking. You carry Sorrow of the Divine, but ZO doesn't work with VP - it doesn't make any sense. 9.4k armor from what?? Granite flask is only 2x 6 sec. And then what? You won't kill anything in T16 in 12 sec even with a 44k Icestorm. Oh wow, you haven't even done Uber Lab? Why? Not using Paragon either. So you can't do reflect then? That was one of the terminal flaws in the all-unique versions before 2.3. But you still don't have that. Weird Ascendancy choices there. Sorry, man, but I'm starting to doubt you a little here... How is this all even working? Most maps are way too easy for WI and can be powered through even with a seemingly broken build. But T16? The Shaper? Are you actually doing the endgame stuff, or just saying that you can? Got any T16 or Shaper videos with this build of yours? Last edited by Kelvynn#6607 on Oct 8, 2016, 5:44:39 PM

" You can play with Enlighten lv 1 in Black Sun Crest without AA. Once it becomes lv 2 you can start using AA and have mana for 1 cast of Icestorm with CE (full boss DPS) or 2 casts with IR (good enough for mapping). And once it's lv 3 you have all the mana you ever need. Lv 4 is a luxury upgrade that lets you pre-stack a bunch of Icestorms before the fight starts (Shaper talking, Izaro arriving, Atziri phases, triggered fights, essences, strongboxes) - but that's not necessary. " Level 2 Enlighten + Black Sun w/ 5L (5gems) WI is not enough to do a 2 cast ice storm with AA on let alone having IR in, unless you somehow managed to get close to 1.4k int at that level. My level 71 WI char (1,264 int) has 166 mana left with 94 ice storm mana cost, that's with level 3 enlighten linked to WM and Disc. So there's that. " Among the builds I've played this season, this one is the hardest to cap resist. I took skillpoint instead of Kraityn's resist because I assumed a few ex would be enough to get me all the starting gear and resist cap later on. I was wrong (This is actually the point where I realized how good this guide was) Pre-crystal belt, you'd struggle getting resist cap even if you took the Kraityn's bonus. The problem comes from the amount of rares this build uses, body armor, gloves, and boots. A quick rundown, on merc you'll need (to cap resists): fire: 135% cold: 135% light: 135% fire: -15% cold: -15% (fire/cold walker) fire: -12% cold: -12% light: -12% (elementalist) fire: -27% cold: -15% light: -27% (diamond skin) ------ you'll need (from gear): fire: 81% cold: 93% light: 96% (without Kraityn bonus) fire: 71% cold: 83% light: 86% (with bonus) So if you took an average spread of 2 resists per gear, that's at the bare minimum of a 40% of dual resist gear on all three boots, body armor and gloves. Normally it's not a problem with other builds, but since we also need INT, all three have to have INT on it, AND some ES. Even ignoring quality of life mods like movement speed, these kind of rares would easily cost you 4-20ex, since the mods distribution are quite specific and have such high stat requirement. Even if you drop Izaro's Turmoil jewels, and replace it with resist jewels, it'd still be those stats with at least 25% double resists per rare. Good thing is that capping resists is not really that mandatory with this build and why people in this thread have been saying to not really bother with capping them since anything above 60/65% would be more than fine with the amount of ES and leech this build has, and the problem goes away once you got your crystal belt anyway. On a last note, this is actually one of the most refined WI build I've found on this entire site, even compared to some others (like that dude with 2k+ INT setup or w/e) and one of the most well rounded and versatile build I've played so far, and among the most well written guide I've seen. So kudos to Kelvynn for that. " From my perspective, go for 18% no matter what. The reason is that WI staff is extremely cheap, you don't need to 6L it, and 4% counts for a lot later on. It's a buy and forget kind of thing, something to not be a worry later on. Last edited by ultimatecat#0489 on Oct 9, 2016, 12:46:01 AM

" Thanks sarahschneider for your tips...how was and how are your survivability at level 71?...do you think its gonna be difficult to gear the build for endgame? Last edited by yissus#1647 on Oct 9, 2016, 12:57:19 AM

" This is my first experience with WI so someone else might be able to provide a more accurate pointers regarding endgame stuff. Survivability is fine so far, I took out my Izaros and replace them with damage+all res jewels. I have roughly around 55% all res atm but have no issues running low-mid tier maps. I did die once or twice to huge elemental dmg spikes from beyond mobs, but that was on me. The build's fine. My biggest problem with the build is finding upgrades. For example, if I want a better boots, with double res and INT, and a bit of ES on it. That's quite cheap, 10 maybe 20c. But if I want one with an empty prefix for movement speed. That's an easy 1ex. If I want 'good' stats (45+ INT, 40%+ double res and movement speed, and more than 170ES) that's about the same price as a 6linked shavs. Difficult? I honestly have no idea, I am struggling to cap my resists atm, but I haven't seen any serious problems with even an uncapped resists. And from what I've seen the build can run everything even with subpar gear. That's the only reason why I'm rerolling to this build in the first place. |

" The order doesn't matter here. Re-check your gem levels. This only works when CWDT and BL are low level and the curses are high level. [/quote] OK, Pretty sure this is right...just never seems to cast? ] |

" Assassin's Mark only gives 5-9% chance to be crit on the enemies. Ice Storm is undercapped on crit in the build (5% with CD). So nothing will come close to beating CD for damage. I'm not sure if AM applies per hit or per cast, however your own crit chance (only 6.5% without CD) is per cast, thus in most encounters you will not do a single crit. ~16% chance to crit just isn't worth much, not when you can have 45-46% MORE damage. Enfeeble and TC give you great survivability and more time to dodge what you need to dodge. BTW I have a white socket that I use for hexproof+no regen maps to mana leech, tried Iron Will, it's basically the same as just removing CD for damage. I have my high lvl added cold on my new character, but that as well was TERRIBLE compared to CD (and it will keep getting worse as your INT gets higher) |

Would going into occultist have any merit?
