[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" Thanks for you joke, oops ... educational examples. If you read carefully, what I said is that "to empty one jewel socket, and put one of them in ...". So this means that the test is done using an endgame witch. If this is not clear, here is my gear for this test:
Spoiler
The passive tree is just what Kelvynn suggested. All the jewels are similar to what Kelvynn has (and of course, one of the socket is empty for this test). So what do this mean? The boost of 10 int or 10% damage is based on like 1500 int and already high increased damage (from the build and passive). This also taken into account the unique gear for this build. What I want from this test is not for a beginner, but for endgamers that want to estimate which is better, 10 int for 10% damage. You are right about the trade off, and I actually have the equation for this, but maybe too complex as an "educational example" :D Last edited by MarvinMars#5664 on May 13, 2017, 6:44:44 PM

what's the easiest way to get the whispering ice, other than buying it from someone else in poe.trade?
|
|
poe trade is probably the easiest way if yo wanna try it at once. Otherwise I met some people who decided to start this build because they got the drop.

" I know the formula myself, but didnt want to go too deep into the math. the thing, however, is that it's hard to value the indirect buffs you gain from int. yes, with proper endgame gear and tree and high level, 10% inc damage will provide slightly higher avg damage than 10 int. most of us already know that. ;) but int also boosts ES and, if you hit the 100 point thresholds, the icestorm duration. so it's kinda hard to calculate everything in exact fashion. calculating the tradeoff between int and inc damage on the avg damage is the easy part. @Kelvynn Thank you so much for the in depth guide was very useful. Was finally able to do Uber Lab with out a carry. (much easier without a carry trap wise) The build has been a lot of fun was able to sink a few exalts into it after some lucky 6 links and essence crafts. Not in gg gear but not bad. Only issue I had was balancing my resists for Wise Oak. Had to drop Frost walker so a bit of a loss but oh well.
Have a few levels to go and need to flip my gems still but overall very happy with the build. (no luck with my first helm enchant :(. Gear at 87 2nd staff for MF I know it has the wrong gems. Currently leveling up purity auras

" Perhaps I over-simplified when I suggested doing that, my bad. As Black_Gun noted, the results can vary depending on other factors. My evaluations are based on a finished endgame character and include both damage and ES. I just tried these two jewels on my Standard league char: They are both 49 value, and the difference is 8 inc dmg vs 8 Int. Result: pure dmg: +22 tooltip, -66 ES hybrid: -22 tooltip, +66 ES So that's a 1:3 trade of dmg vs ES. I consider a 1:2 trade worthy, but anything over that I'll take the extra ES. That's why I take a slightly lower value jewel with Int over a slighty higher pure damage. Another thing to watch for is the 100 Int thresholds. If a jewel pushes you into the next hundred, you gain 0.15s BASE Icestorm duration and that's a good upgrade even though it's not reflected in the dmg number. " Farm the Western Forest (Cruel or Merciless) for The Incantation card. That's how you get the staff in SSF. Outside of the SSF mode it's much easier to just buy it via poe.trade even on day 1 of a new league. " All of your items are already good. You should be able to replace the rare ring with Perandus Signet soon (if you haven't taken Diamond Skin yet), or maybe find a good rare jewel with a resist mod. Other than that, any further upgrades are in the 'expensive' category and not really needed. All you need is to finish leveling to 92-93, take 2 jewel sockets and get decent jewels for them. You should be fine for everything in PoE then. Last edited by Kelvynn#6607 on May 15, 2017, 1:45:50 PM

Hi i love your guide :) but approximately how much does this build costs on legacy softcore? Is 90 c enough to get started with this build?
|
|
" yes, its enough to get started, but just barely. 70c for an astramentis, 1-5c for the staff (try to get as high %inc int on it as possible!), a few chaos for some basic ES gear. this will easily be enough for smooth dried lake and white map farming. with the currency you farm along the way, you will be able to fund the push into yellow maps. |
|
" to get started, just skip Astramentis. Leveling to 85 and up to tier 11 maps is easy enough without. But get the jewels, esp. the "Brute Force Solution" one. |
