[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
" thanks for the reply. I'm a noob when it comes to phrasing in this game so i'll stick to the op gem setup then. |

You could potentially roll an Eye of the Greatwolf with anywhere between 24%-32% increased attributes, right? That would probably be BIS if the second implicit is a damage roll of some kind.

Can someone have a look at my build and tell me what's best to upgrade next, or if i'm doing something wrong. Sitting on 6ex. Killed guardians except Hydra who ripped me. Great and fun build so far.
Thanks. |

" Sorry, you're right. I forgot to mention. You're supposed to replace Lightning Ball with Orb of storms for hard static bosses! You can self cast it or not (it depends on your preference, in case just remove or keep CWDT)! |

" disclaimer: math-heavy post ahead. if you only want the conclusion, read the tldr at the bottom. ----- we're talking about very endgame gear here, so lets assume the build has the lab race jewels: the build sits at a baseline of 18 (staff) + 15 (helm) + 7 (emperors mastery) + 6 (emperors wit) + 10 (non-legacy perandus signet) = 63% of increased intelligence. with a +curse astra, we could get another 10% from the second perandus. with a +curse astra, the build stands at 73% increased int. with a perfectly rolled greatwolf ammy (32% inc int), it would reach 95% inc int. at the cost of losing 100 base int from the astramentis, while gaining 10 base int from the doedres ring. using a greatwolf ammy, on the other hand, loses important str and dex values. lets assume that to make up for this, we are forced to take 2 of the 30str/dex nodes when using a greatwolf. lets assume that those two points could have been spent for 25 int instead. lets further assume that the +curse astramentis will have, on average, 95 attributes. with these assumptions, which are favourable for the greatwolf ammy, the greatwolf setup has a net base int loss of (95 - 10 + 25) = 110 int. now we can calculate the base int value at which the greatwolf ammy provides higher int than the astramentis setup. in the following, let x denote the value of base int. we have to solve the following equation: (x + 110)*1.73 = x*1.95 x + 110 = x*1.95/1.73 = x*1.127 1 + 110/x = 1.127 110/x = 0.127 x = 110/0.127 = 865. so since this build at high levels sits at a base int value of around 1.1-1.2k (my lvl 93 witch is at 1172 base int atm, 1713 with all the sources of %inc int), a perfectly rolled greatwolf ammy would yield significantly higher int than even a +curse astramentis coupled with a perandus signet. note that this calculation is not factoring in the second mod that a greatwolf ammy could potentially have. a min-rolled greatwolf ammy (24% inc attributes) would yield a break-even base int of x = 110 / (1.87/1.73 - 1) = 1359. so a min-rolled greatwolf could absolutely not break even with a +curse astramentis. ----------- on a non-curse astramentis setup, the astramentis setup loses 10% inc int from the second perandus ring, but gains 10 flat int from the doedres. the calculation for the break-even point then reduces to the following: x = 115 / ([1.87-1.95]/1.63 - 1) = [781 (min rolled greatwolf), 585 (max rolled greatwolf)]. so a greatwolf with %attributes decisively defeats any vanilla astramentis setup, even when factoring in the loss of some passive points that are needed to make up for the missing str and dex. -------- with a +curse astramentis and legacy perandus signet rings (15% inc int per ring, instead of 10%), the calculations end up as follows: x = 110 / ([1.92, 2.00] /1.83 - 1) = [2236 (min roll), 1184 (max roll)]. so this means that a perfectly rolled %attributes greatwolf ammy would roughly break even with a +curse astramentis & double legacy perandus signet setup. if the other mod on the greatwolf is something good as well, it might be able to sliiighly pull ahead. note, however, that this calculation assumes that only 2 passives are needed to make up for the lost str/dex values. if we need 3 of them, the break-even base int for a perfectly rolled greatwolf compared to a +curse astramentis increases to 1313 (legacy perandus) or 959 (non-legacy perandus). ----- tl,dr: an eyes of the greatwolf amulet with %increased attributes (range: 24-32) will always be superior to a setup with an ordinary astramentis, even if we factor in the loss of str/dex that has to be made up by picking 2-3 "stat passive nodes" and the second mod on the greatwolf is useless. comparing the greatwolf with a setup with a +curse astramentis, a lot depends on the actual roll on the greatwolf ammy and on whether normal or legacy perandus rings are used. a badly rolled greatwolf is always worse than a +curse astra setup. but a 32% inc attributes greatwolf beats even a +curse astra setup with double normal perandus rings. if double legacy perandus rings are available, the well-rolled greatwolf will be slightly inferior and should roughly break even with the second mod on the greatwolf is something useful. ---- tldr of the tldr: in temp leagues, the greatwolf with any roll of %inc attributes is significantly better than a normal astra, and with a good roll it is somewhat better than a +curse astra. on standard, a greatwolf would require a perfect %inc attributes roll and a useful second mod to break even or slightly pull ahead of a +curse astra & double legacy perandus setup. Do we have a conclusive answer as to which Golem to use ( Lightning vs Cold)? There was some conflicting posts and I gave up sorting through.

" Your gear seems fine enough for hydra, (though I just started using WI myself), and I beat him with slightly worse gear than yours. (I definitely didn't have quality on my gems) It's really just an execution fight. Don't stay in front of him, have two chill flasks, use purity of ice, and if you are using a wise oak, couple it with a ruby. Last edited by radiostar01#5216 on Apr 3, 2017, 1:23:15 AM

" lightning golem is better for selfcast builds. it provides nothing for cwc builds, so that ice golem is without a doubt the second golem for the "current" build. (besides the obvious flame golem.) Last edited by Black_Gun#7476 on Apr 2, 2017, 3:04:25 PM

Just a quick brag/feel good story:
I was at lev 82 last night with only 50c to my name (I really suck at making money in this game), no Astra, kinda crappy gear, but having fun running tier 6-7 maps, when maybe the luckiest thing ive ever had happen (playing since beta) happened. I ran across Cardiro with a shavs. I scrambled to blow most of my savings on coins, bought the shavs, held it dearly for a few mins since I had never owned one, and sold it in seconds for 5ex. I know it was a bit low, but I was so happy I didn't care. Now I have an astra, a Perandus, some gear with actual int on it, and am feeling quite happy. It's the most currency ive had in quite a few leagues. ... about one hour later I got my first exalt drop of the league. mwahaaha! Ive never made it past about tier 12 on maps, maybe this will be the time! |

" Maybe, but around 600 ES less isn't unimportant ... i think i will stick with doedres until i find a good belt with more intelligence @Baldrick: how much coins he wanted for the shavronnes? I found candiro who wants to sell headhunter belt ... but ... for 21.000 coins :D no way, have had about 1500 ;) Last edited by Mydgard6#5964 on Apr 2, 2017, 3:48:58 PM
