you don't need links to run the build. You need a 6 socketed whispering ice - put your gems in there, they don't need more than 3l, 4l is preferred - read the first page again.
€: You can get by with a 4l chest for your CWDT setup. You can do CWDT+vortex+coh+enfeeble for starters.

You can do low tier maps without the gem setup in your body armour. As long as your chest is 6 socket you can keep all your gems in it and lvl them. If you link your chest again keep the next 4l and use CWDT - Ball Lightning - Curse on Hit - Enfeeble until you have more fusings to link your chest again to get the 5l.

This build has no need for a 6link chest, 5l is perfectly fine. Your whispering ice needs to be 6 sockets but the links don't matter at all.

Yea, I know about a staff, but I'm talking about a chest. When I realized that it doesn't need to be 6L on chest it was too late ).

Just wanted to thank you for making the guide.
I did 40/40 in Essence league and 40/40 in Breach using the Witch version of this build.
The relevant chars are Deadly_Essence and Deadly_Breach - public if anyone wants to see.
I did all the achievements except Unique strongbox, Chayula domain (way too expensive) and Nemesis currency sextant (way too rare) myself.
With around 1500 int and 8500ES, farming Uber Atziri is trivial, with some practice Shaper is very quick too. Guardians and Uber lab are a breeze. The build can be even stronger, but since I can already do all content with those stats, I didn't really bother with getting better gear.
The only map mod I skip is Hexproof - its doable, but too slow to bother.
A quality of life improvement that is not mentioned in the guide - I use a high speed Quicksilver flask. It makes both Atziri and Shaper easier. Dodging the slam without a quicksilver can be iffy if some ping delay is present.
Main downside - For Breach league - speed. I've had some issues with the Uul-netol and Chayula domains, but solved those by removing Life Leech and slotting a Cold to Fire gem. Additionally removing the Weakness curse and using a Perandus signet instead of the Doedre ring increases DPS and can be helpful in the domains too.
Main upside - for me, the lack of short duration buffs I need to manually cast. I quite dislike builds where I have to maintain 5-10 second buffs all the time and recast them constantly. Its a pain and breaks the flow of the game. This build can work perfectly well without that. Casting orb of storms and maintaining flasks is a big buff and required in the hardest content, but other than that you can do perfectly fine by just jumping in and killing stuff.
The starting budget of the build is very reasonable. Making it shaper/uber viable will cost around 10-12 ex. Overall one of the cheaper end game builds, and you can do all content in a league on one char.

You do not need the 5L CWDT-Curse setup to run maps even into mid tiers. Just map in lower level areas until you can afford to 5L your chest again.

My goal is to actually get to 40/40 challenges. It's my first league playing (played in beta) and I was wondering if I could get some advice on what my progression should be like. Right now I'm level 88 and farming T11-T14. Should I be farming bosses or something else with this build to make the best use of this build? And do I also just level until 92 before I even attempt to push for Shaper?
