[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything

Soo... I just finally made up my mind and swapped from my own version of the skilltree to the official one. I lost about 1k ES (8.3k to 7.3k) and gained about 10% dmg (6k to 6.7k hideout). I lost three clusters worth of reduced mana reserved (only one cast worth of mana with double blasp and discipline) and... 30%? increased effect of curses. I feel pretty ripped off. Really should've input everything into a build planner first I suppose. Granted, I'm still missing about 2.5 jewels after moving things all around, but I don't think 28-40 int (times modifier) is going to salvage my terrible ES situation... Do I really just need to grind for another three weeks to afford a 750+ chest, 200ES/t0 int+150ES boots, etc etc to be endgame viable? Help me fix my character please ;_;

The build is quite expensive if you want more than 7k es. I've done all content besides shaper with 7k es though.

The definition of 'expensive' can differ a lot. As I said repeatedly, my gear in the Essence league cost me less than 10 ex total, and that's after missing the first 2 weeks of the league when great items can often be very cheap. If anybody expects to farm the Shaper with a budget of less than 5-8 ex (300-500c) then this is not the build for it.

Now, the 'custom' version used by beegee0... I've spent a great deal of time working on this build, playing it in the last 3 leagues, optimizing it, making all components work together. When you discard a large part of it and go with completely different ideas (two curse auras with Blasphemy, no AA, no Leap Slam/Fortify, no US, no Diamond Skin, no CWDT defenses) - it's not the same build and you shouldn't be surprised that it doesn't work quite the same.

How to fix your character? Get with the program, of course. You are just 1 level away from the recommended lv 92 setup (or you can just take the socket near the Scion start instead of the right one at lv 91). Use the links and mechanics from the guide. Your gear is OK except the chest and gloves. Surely you can find something better than that. It doesn't have to be 800+ ES, or even 750+. But your chest is 636 ES with only crafted Int, and your gloves are 104 ES. Resists won't be so hard to max once you take Diamond Skin. My Inquisitor has 1 res mod on each item and it's perfectly fine if you follow the guide.

ES is not the goal. It's about INT and fully functional mechanics of the build. If you watch the Shaper video and pay attention to the ES bar, you can see that it could have been done even with 5k ES.

Hammer, meet nail upon head. Something people seem to be missing a lot with this build is that impressive ES levels is not at -all- required. The real tankiness and power of this build comes from the insane leech. As long as you have enough ES to not get one shot (even then those mechanics can be avoided w/ proper play), you can do almost anything in the game.

Any item with at least 30 int and maybe one resist - 600 ES chest, 100-120 ES gloves/boots, 300 es helm, these are all very cheap on both HC and SC. You can even get 40-50 int pieces with those above numbers and they'll be superior to gear with less int but higher raw ES.

That'll allow you to do most content while building up $ to get higher tier gear if you want to tackle the endgame/Shaper.

Yep, "expensive" is some very different things to different people. I've had maybe just about 5 ex of net value throughout the league, a decently better pair of gloves costs 1 ex (http://poe.trade/search/isewaribaukiti and even then, they don't have a good flat ES, so they don't scale too well with the build because we have so much % increase already). I also simply don't understand how to make EW capped resists happen with INT on every piece (well, I do, getting the diamond skin and getting t2 or higher res rolls on items along with other top stats). I love the build, I just won't minmax it to the end, went back to my old tree (more or less) and it's fine. Don't think I would've got to t15 maps without this guide, thank you (and sorry for abusing it). I'd rather not discuss this further, I've polluted the thread enough already :)

Hey man - just wanna say thanks so much for your hugely detailed guide. This is the furthest I've gotten with any character ever, and I've reached the point where upgrades will be probably 5ex+. Going to reach level 90 for the first time ever. :)
Shaper down boys (2nd try), not very pretty kill though (at 5th portal).
I Died too to Rigwald boss where he was curse immune (I suppose Lair version because black forest is not).

I tried face tank the slam while vaal disc was up (15k ES), got one shot, so don't try. Next try i will try vaal lightning trap instead.

I used PoI for the fight.

note: 10k ES and 1820 INT.

Grats!! :)

Shaper takes some getting used to the fight. Getting Rigwald is bad luck, he is by far the worst of all random bosses. I just try to destroy him before he does something I don't even know what, randomly, that can 1-shot. I don't think it's the wolf form there either. If he manages to 1-shot me he's usually almost dead by the time the remaining Icestorms end (don't respawn before they do!) and then I finish him off quickly. It's probably posible to just dodge him, but I consider it a 'Rigwald tax' = 1 portal.

Man, can't thank you enough for this guide, so detailed!
Trying this build on the HC Essence league, only level 75 currently but it's a blast. I went for unwavering stance about ~10 levels early which may have been a mistake, but I had a super close call from a nasty stun-lock so I was a bit worried. Just using the one Quicksilver too, trying out Granite + Resist flasks with bleed, shock, curse, and freeze immunity just to be safe. Other than that though, following it step-by-step and worked perfect.

If anyone has any tips for map bosses to avoid, etc - anything to keep me alive, please lemme know :D
