Why Poe is becoming PAY TO WIN GAME - free discusion

Here we are almost a year and a half later, and I'm not exactly sure we're any closer to being P2W.

I shan't ever understand the drive to necropost. Personally, I'd have waited for that two-year anniversary if I were gonna do it, though... round numbers.
When your game starts with 3 tabs and 10 types of currency and reach the point where there are 50 types of currency and 50 types of fragments, that "convenience" gets a bit forced.

If the fact that anyone who really plays this game has to eventually pay for stash tabs is why we're calling it P2W...then I can accept that. Even though you still really don't have to have them...I get it. But still....thats not p2w imo. Throw these guys a bone...buy some stash tabs and skrimp on the gd wings lmfao....still cant believe ppl walk around with glowly fair wings...am I the only one who finds that shit corny as hell...... lookatme....lookatme. Gotta support these guys some kind of way.
Without at least “currency stash tab”, one premium tab for trading purpose and map stash tab it's possible to play only if you precisely know what you're doing. Or playing SSF, then the premium stash is not required. However even for very skilled and seasoned player, game will be extremely difficult, as there are 157 types of maps and 50 types of currency, so within a week more then one stash tab will be filled with maps only. In conclusion, playing without additional tab’s is impossible, as to gain knowledge, how to do it, you have to play long time with those tabs 

thats stretching it a bit. It's still possible to manage with what you're given, granted it would be really annoying and we're all lazy so we buy more tabs. The issue is us being lazy not that its "forced".

No it's not.
Nor is it about being lazy.

Tabs became mandatory over time.
Non-tab MTX didn't.
Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun
Every league adds more and more. 3 tabs are a chore. There is a fine line between P2W and hidden P2W and PoE is getting near the latter. A single stash tab should be given IMO.
The game is free to download, if you choose to stay free then you can enjoy the entire game but with the restriction of a few tabs. However, pay $30-40 which is reasonable for a game of this size and you can have a tonne of stash tabs (Guess around 12 premiums) and be just as competitive as anyone.

Arguing that this is P2W is akin to arguing that any game that offers a trial that is level locked to 15, or only gives the first mission or so on is P2W because I can't compete without spending any money to get access to parts of the game others don't. Now you'll always get those cry babies and freeloaders who cry "Wahhhh I have to buy the game to play it, that's soooo P2W" but they aren't worth listening to.

Sure GGG could change it so for free you can do the quests but access to maps and endgame costs $40 and you start with more tabs but they've not done that. They're not a big studio with the name, marketing budget, etc that the likes of Blizzard has to make that model a financial success.

However, they like any of us need money, they need to eat and make a profit and so although they give access to the entire content and fresh new leagues for free every 3 months they need to try and encourage as many as possible to pay some money to survive and continue investing in the game.

Stash tabs in a loot based ARPG are that carrot on a stick for them and with that have built a game, community and structure that has been and continues to be successful.

If you want P2W then look at games with Real money auction houses, or marketplaces like in Black Desert Online where you can buy cosmetic items to sell to other players for in game currency, or pay constantly for workers to finish tasks faster and earn more and so on.

the word you are looking for is incentivized, not forced
I dont see any any key!
I agree, with the amount of content compared to the early days, the free stash tabs feel a little low.
