any tips and gem links you would suggest would be great also I notice some people run bv-faster cast-controlled destruction-

Discipline and Hatred are pretty much mandatory. You can also run a Clarity if you have picked some reduced reserved mana nodes.

The trees look pretty much like the ones many people came up with. There aren't any big differences. It's fine.

I had a hard time around that level as well. Pathfinder leveling was way more tedious than I expected. Don't worry about it, it will get much better at around 70-75. Grind some xp in A3 until you can do Dried Lake. You'll get currency and will be able to afford upgrades. Stick to hybrid for now but start to focus more on ES (if you see a cheap 500-600 ES chest buy it)
If you're playing ESC it'll currently take around 20c to get into CI. Maybe you'll get a good drop, maybe not, but you're getting there.

It's not quite clear yet what the best gem links are. I think your setup is fine. Some say AddedFire is better than ContDes, but I can't say for sure.
I'm going with:
BV + IncAoE + Spell Echo + Added Fire + Crit Strikes + Crit Damage (but you could drop Crit Damage and add ContDes or even another Added-x. I don't know whats mathematically better)
