What's a good shield alternative before affording aegis?

What do you think of the bleed/poison pure phys version of this build? You drop ele damage and scale poison/bleed with lion's roar, rapid decay and dirty techniques to proc poison. Credit goes to IamSalvation for the idea but I'm working on improving it.
I was surprised you skipped the whole templar area to go ranger since I didn't even think of that. Also wonder why you didn't take any endurance charges. Here is what it roughly looks like right now would like to hear your thoughts. poeurl.com/A7k Gear

Are those offence stat pics you posted with or without flasks? Or only in hideout with auras?

" Yep, same here. Doesn't gain from all the %defenses from shield nodes, but great from level 8. If you still can't afford at high level yet a lioneye's remorse is a good choice, or a good rare. |

Hmm, currently using a 5-link with EQ, Less duration, Melee phys damage, Increased aoe/conc effect and deciding upon the last slot. I'm choosing between added fire damage and melee damage on full life.
I do have an aegis and tooltip dps is around 19k with auras will full life gem, and around 17k with added fire. However I sometimes drop below full life which means my tooltip dps drops to around 12k. Note sure if the consistent 17k is better or 19k with drops to 12k every now and then and on bosses... Any thoughts? :) |

I really enjoy leveling this with 2H weapons. I think the 1H weapons are inferior for the process of leveling. Thoughts?

" I didn't try it myself, but I feel like you won't get much of benefit from poison since it's only 25% chance on bleeding target, meaning you have to hit 4 times to stack just 1 poison. On the other hand, WED gives 60% more elemental damage on every hit. I didn't take enduring charges by lack of points, but I did take them from bandits. Phys damage aren't that much problem so it wasn't that problematic imo, but if I had enough points, I would definitely take them. |
