And this. The only thing I want out of the current mystery box is the spectral basilisk pet. But rather than burn through god knows how many points in boxes, I think I'll just wait til the spectral basilisk goes on sale, and buy it outright.

Yeah. It has before, and I've been waiting for it to do so again so I could buy one. They've gone for 165 GGGold. I want one! ... But yeah, I'm a little worried that they won't let it go on sale now due to these boxes.

the reason of the boxes is not for players to get full sets.

it just enables players to "save" on their support money by getting individual set pieces with less support money now and get the remaining armor pieces on the next "support sale".

I'm very keen to tell you that I think this business practice is complete bullshit. I tested the boxes to see just how easy the sets were to get.

Let's just say it took my in the ball park of 220 boxes to get both sets. The Radiant Chest showed up ONCE. Radiant Helm, ONCE. Next rarest was the Radiant Shield with 2, a few Alabaster Chest / Helmets, followed by 10+ of all other pieces.

It was making me physically sick continuing to open these but I figured I'd do it to show everyone how shit the odds are of finishing a set. 5500 points gone for 2 armor sets when they normally cost ~450.

Never touching a box again.

Aux, the full sets (as a whole) are specifically for whales who want the challenge / exclusivity / excuse to spend that money.
Everything else (and individual armour parts) is for people who want a deal on a few of MTX with the chance of a bigger prize, or to build an armour set over time.

Whales get harpooned like usual, but in a pretty benign way that isn't really damaging to anything in the game, and the MTX system is not designed around relying on whales so this is not an issue, merely a completely optional purchasing option available for higher-end consumers.

Value-centric consumers get some good deals and discounts on MTX, and double-ups are usually made up for by the fact that most of the MTX cost more than the box.

Hell, you even said you did it for the sake of showing people how terrible the odds are.

But everybody already knew the odds were shit, and a 1-Sample-Size data set doesn't give any worthwhile numbers anyway. You did it for the sake of doing it, and because you can afford to blow money on something that you KNOW has extreme diminishing value, which fits exactly in the purpose of the full armour sets: Ya got whaled.

Anyone who actually needs to worry about the value of their money are not going to purchase them the way you did, and will understand that going for a full set is not realistic, especially since you can get repeat items. For these people, it will be a great value.

Tried my luck and spent my points in these things. Came out with mixed feelings. Had some good drops, but the 15+ bronze and gold gargoyles are going to be hard to decorate appropriately. Next time, I'll just wait for everything to go on sale like the arctic armour.

While i fully understand the random nature of the contents, i have to admit that seeing multiple-doubles of the same item from a small amount (bought around 10 boxes, only 2 had a new armor mtx, everything else was doubles) is a bit discouraging / frustrating.

In the future (or before this league is done, if it can be managed) GGG should think about putting in a mechanic that let's players trade or even gift mtx's. Helps keep mtx stash's cleaner, and gives players another avenue for trading w/ eachother, or at least giving each-other presents.

Will most likely not buy any more boxes, as the risk of getting multiple copies of the same thing seems to great to justify spending more points-$ on.

I've never take any skin effect, only stash items.

Now i've try this and guess? I've won the 5x skin transfer.

These Boxes are fucking scummy practice.

I had enough points only for 1 box, but it was totally worth it :D

I hate gamble boxes in any game that offers them.

I don't care too much 'cause its all cosmetic. However, I don't feel giving players buyers remorse on silly tings like gamble boxes has a positive long term effect. I'm not gonna sit here and say you will make more or less money one way or the other, but I will comment on how bad it is to make your buyers feel remorse over their purchases. I personally have a very hard time buying anything from a service that I've experienced buyers remorse after making a purchase.

If you guys want new ways to monitize, and are going to try the tactics used by other services. Try doing something similar to what Humble Bundle is doing. A monthly subscription that rewards players with a few random cosmetic plus a high value one each month. Just an idea.
