Labyrinth is one of the best additions PoE ever had

No it doesn't. It just means that the labyrinth involves a different kind of gameplay from what's usual in an ARPG, and he doesn't enjoy it. Neither do I.

I have no desire to take the labyrinth away from people who do enjoy it, nor do I expect that ascendency points should be given out "for free" without the labyrinth.

I understand that GGG probably wants to expand the traditional horizons of ARPGs (maybe all the more so because PoE hews so closely to the long-established, tried and true Diablo I-II formula --- which is what has made PoE successful). But the labyrinth reminds me of many equally unpopular attempts to diversify game-play by adding (much smaller and less mandatory) mini-games into ARPGs/RPGs. The turret mini-game in the Knights of the Old Republic comes to mind. What's bad is that the labyrinth is being used to gate a crucial achievement for those of us who just want to build characters and play an ARPG.

It seems that some may have forgotten the purpose of the Feedback and Suggestions forum. I'll re-post some comments I made a couple of days ago.

Almost everyone that posts here in the Feedback and Suggestions forum is doing so because they want PoE to be the best game possible. We give feedback and suggestions to GGG. We do not really decide anything here. GGG takes our feedback and suggestions into consideration when doing their planning. We all have different points of view and can sometimes disagree when those views seem incompatible. I believe this is really a very good thing. It helps to hone and develop different ideas and directions. So, let's show respect for everyone as best we can, especially when disagreeing. That way our mutual goal of making PoE the best game possible will be enhanced and I really think that we will also enjoy the process much more. Regards,
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

+1

I think a lot of people never gave it a fair shake. Granted the highly unstable release of the content did not help with that but I haven't DC'd while in the lab in weeks so I think that is slowly getting sorted out.

Labyrinth is played a lot difference than other parts of the game. Interesting!

It is different, but interesting? Maybe when it's completely new to you. The lab is way too static as it is right now. It's perfectly fine for just running three times per character and grabbing the Ascendancy points, but for farming purposes, the lab layouts (individual rooms) almost always follow the same pattern and make me lose interest very quickly.

2. Decision making and stagnation breaking.

Playing Normal -> Cruel -> Merciless has some decision making now. You just don't just faceroll to maps. You have to decide when you want to Ascend on each difficulty - Ascending earlier gives you benefits which accelerate leveling, but is also risky, because it is pretty difficult.

True, this adds another level of decision making, especially in Hardcore.

3. Another thing to farm in late game!

Maps, Atziri... Now Labyrinth! What not to like?! This is what PoE needed, and still needs.

I agree that PoE needs more things to do for endgame, but when getting a specific enchant is a crapshoot, most enchants are pretty weak, and lab monsters are at such a low level, I don't see much point in running the lab except for Ascendancy points.

4. More racing!

You can now race without having to do 5h of racing per day - if you can get a good time, you'll get rewards! Neat.

I don't personally enjoy competitive play in PoE, but it's cool to have more options for people that enjoy this type of thing. On the other hand, the rewards are crap, which is kind of expected when people are winning them every day.

5. Theme

Izaro is a bro. Stuff he says is cool. He is cool.

Ha, he's ok. And fighting him is pretty exciting when you're not overleveled.

Given how much shit people drop on Uber Lab, lets have some discussion about:

If it is so terrible, why are everyone farming it?

Discuss!

Same reason people work a job. it sucks but they pay you haha.

I work for myself But I guarantee you I stop paying my drivers and workers they would stop showing up. Same applies to lab. Only way they can make it half ass attractive is loot bonanza compared to everyplace else.

In the current version of the Normal Labyrinth, the only way out of the Sanitorium Atrium is through a locked Gold Door. (The alternate exit leads to the Basilica Annex, a closed loop that contains a Silver Key.) If you didn't previously pick up a Gold Key, there is no way to backtrack to a previous level to find one. You're stuck and have to start over.

I actually enjoy the Labyrinth's challenges, but the locked door puzzles should not be unsolvable.

Lab is fine for those who like Super Mario style games.

However, it does not belong in PoE.
