The labyrinth is both boring and frustrating

The issue with traps, at least for some people, is that it is a different game play that feels like a different game. A different genre of game that some people do not enjoy or do not want to experience when they are playing an ARPG.

I don't get it, to me it's no different than dodging a charging rhoa or an exiles flameblast. I don't see how it's different than pre-existing gameplay, we're already manually dodging shit...

I don't know how to explain it better. I don't like the feeling. I would rather like playing labyrinth then I could fully enjoy the game I love, like I used to. I consider you lucky, if you don't feel that way. I just never liked those kind of games. I find them boring tedious and not fun. For example, the games that make me feel that way are games like Mario, Prince of Persia, Frogger, and Labyrinth. One thing that all those games have in common that is different from PoE regular game play is that in those games the environment causes damage to the characters. Whereas in ARPG game play the monsters cause the damage to the characters.

We already had environmental damage in PoE before the laby was introduced. :/

Remind me. Was it percentage-of-total-life environmental damage that we are forced to go through, or laboriously avoid, in order to develop our characters?

I'm not sure what environmental damage you're talking about but it wasn't significant enough to change the game play and make it feel like a different game.

Nope, but that's beside the point. Unless you have enough regen they could still be deadly and yeah, you would run into it running maps in a group while developing your character.

My point being...

If you don't like the laby that's fine, but don't make it out to be something it's not. Saying it turns PoE into frogger is being a bit overly dramatic. The core gameplay was already there, it's just been turned up a notch or two. And that is perfectly fine considering how powerful the rewards are for completing the laby.

I'm talking about map mods, and they are significant depending on your build and a few other factors.

Laby doesn't make the game feel any different.

I hate the labyrinth.

Your opinion. For me, the traps in the labyrinth are a different type of gameplay from the core game, not some minor retuning, and not one I enjoy in a game like PoE.

And there is the main problem for those of us that hate the labyrinth.

Well I hate act 4 but you don't see me campaigning to get it removed or changed.

At least the laby is short...

You mean the ground effects like fire, lightning, cold, etc.? Those don't change the fundamental game play, the feel of the game, at least not for me. I've never heard anyone say that it did for them either. The traps in Labyrinth change the game play and the feel of the game for me and I've seen the same comment from many others.

Act 4 game play is the same as the rest of PoE. The problem is that Labyrinth is a different kind of game play and it feels like Frogger to me, much more than PoE. Actually I didn't hate frogger nearly as much as I hate Labyrinth because Frogger didn't mess up my favorite game. :-)
