Hey, I'm actually running this build and despite some early struggles having a blast with it! Thanks for posting. I was wondering if you could update the tree so that I could have something to base off of?

Glad to hear mate!

Updating the build trees today in the evening once I get back from work :P, sorry for the broken trees, didn't check them once ascendancy hit!

Hey,

Unfortunately ascendancy fkd up FPS for me and when i start recording vids it goes down to about 30 for me too. So no gut vids from me :/

For those who need the tree asap you can use this one (its the same in different planner).

Although ice trap has better tooltip DPS shock nova is far more superior and i use it as my primary. It's better because it has much better aoe and you can kill a pack easily. Ice trap's aoe is too small and because mobs on the edges of aoe are hit only once by the ice trap they are not killed. And because packs like to spread out a little you won't kill them by one trap. So basically ice trap has better damage but it's hitting much less enemies which leads to less damage given to enemies in the end.

That being said I still use ice trap for:
- Killing minions with on-death effect - for example those guys who shoot spikes in all directions on death. Ice trap freezes them and when they die they shatter and on-death effect won't trigger.
- Bosses and tanky rares - freeze them so they don't run around and cast some nasty spells.

I am currently level 77, mapping around T6 and it's very smooth.

Also good news - Augury of Penitence from asc gives nearby enemies white circle under them so you can finally easilly see all those black enemies in black maps. Very nice QoL bonus.

Also a little tip on pots for you guys:
- Instant healing pots are life savers. You don't have time for potions to heal you up over time because when you get hit another hit might follow quickly and you need your health back up by then. Also mostly i am getting damage in spikes - no damage most of the time and then i get my ass kicked several times in a second (after that the enemy dies to my infinite dps). So for spike DPS you better use spike healing.

- Quartz. What else to say. No movement skill => you need it for strongboxes. And if you are getting your ass kicked you need to run ASAP and you cannot afford to be blocked by enemies on the way. Also i am using recharge on giving crit because i am critting most of the time and this will make the pot recharge fast so it's always full when you need it. You don't need longer effect because you are never so deep in enemy territory you cannot escape in 5 seconds. Also movement speed because when you are getting fkd you better run.

- I don't have mana pot because when i am killing blues/whites they only need one trap so no need for another extra mana. When killing rares/bosses you run around to avoid their attacks so your mana regenerates in that time. And also your traps have cooldowns so not like you can trap anyway.
- So the rest is up to you. I use quicksilver obviously and the last choice was tough but i went for sulphur flask. You can always use some extra DPS and 4% hp per second from consecrated ground is always good bonus.

EDIT: I didn't look into unqiue flasks. Some of them might be better than Sulphur (or any other flask).

I will try to record some videos on standard, fiddled around with some options it seems to be able to record @30 fps on 1280x1024 without major hiccups.

That being said it will probably be only like 5 minutes since it still takes around 1GB / minute at that format and my upload speeds aren't that great >.>

I heard about concept like this on Kripp stream then came here to seek some help because im terrible in theorycraft and found this build..two words is awesome! I'm currently lv 71 with no good gear but traps just maw mobs its pure destruction. Life is a little problem for me specially cruel lab was not fun at all but i over leveld a little and done it. I want to try Kaoms/Belly of the Beast + boots with trap skill + good 6L Eclipse Staff, eventually ill get it. Freaking Love It !
Hey, I was wondering if you could update the passive tree. I was curious about your trap build, but whenever I try to access it, it says the tree was too old and wouldn't load.
the links to your build no longer work :P
Links are fixed!

Sorry for the delay, will try to upload a small video showcase during the next two days.

how is your survivability? i was thinking of going MoM/EB would be a good idea, since it will only cost you a few points, and you can respec back 14 points from acrobatics, and then pick up more life nodes and power charge and more mana, mana regen for MoM

I am leaning towards MoM also atm, might consider dropping acro and going for Arcane Potency + life/mana/MoM instead.

That being said my defenses on standard are ok seeing as i have a 1.5k es buffer also, which is why I might not be feeling the downside of the lower life pool.

That being said here I added a MoM tree variants to the original post, ended up with almost same amount of crit but more resists / aoe / mana.
Life stayed the same tho, it can be pushed a bit higher if some mana nodes (or the elementalist nodes) are dropped, but won't go much higher than 170%~.

If you are scared of getting 1 shot, go for the MoM version.
