ZiggyD Reveals the Scion Ascendancy Class: The Ascendant

Looks great, Path of Scion again for sure.

However, the Guardian part of the Scion is thoroughly disappointing and weak. Please change it, GGG.

I don't really care for Ziggy but I have to admit he is by far the best at narrating the new ascendancy classes. Everyone else so far has sounded like late night commercial car salesmen.

If you equip 3 Pacifism jewels (http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Pacifism)
so you always have 0/0 Frenzy Charges, does that mean you will have perma Phasing + Onslaught?!

Yes, but tbh, 3 jewels skill points just for that seems like a massive waste when you can be at full frenzy pretty easy using blood rage.

True. I cant really see a build where that whould be effective... yet... :)
Just posting my late night "theorycrafting".

U T T E R.

T O T A L.

S H I T.

Looks good and fancy until you look clearly at the "options" at the end.

Basically half-assed and half-baked versions of the original which in most cases (perhaps not all) are not worth getting over the O R I G I N A L.

The only possibility that might redeem that shit is the opportunity to, as well, start from another part of the tree which can potentially save quite a bit of skill point and provide access to otherwise difficult to get zones (especially when one want to access 2 opposite sides).

That's really the Scion only hope right now...

Looking thru this thread, plus several threads on (shudder) reddit, there are a lot of folks who didn't realize (or couldn't watch videos) that Chieftan was revealed on 19 Feb. Yet the site STILL says "Unannounced".

This makes me wonder; if it takes this long to get the final Marauder class posted on the site, will the scion be posted before or after Ascendancy goes live???? Let's open the betting window folks!!!

I think I've seen GGG do things similarly with the other revealed sub-classes. I'd assume they guarantee those 3rd party sites a certain time (one week probably) of exclusivity on that reveal before the information is made available directly by GGG. I mean: Who in their right mind would visit IGN when all the same (and more!) information could also be found directly on pathofexile.com? There wouldn't be really a point in having someone else reveal it then. (3rd parties get clicks while GGG gets marketing)
Crit happens.

Very exciting!
I like this design and think it is well balanced. I paused the video to carefully read all the major nodes shown, and I think Galtrovan summed it up pretty good below:

Not OP... 6 Ascendancy points and what do you get...

- max of 2 major nodes where the other classes get 3
- the nodes available in each class ascendancy conveniently left out the nodes you would have taken had you chose that ascendancy path from the owning class... i.e. the best nodes of each class ascendancy isn't available to the Scion
- decide to be use another classes starting point, you get two 40 point stat nodes, one ascendancy node... and two skill points to throw at the normal tree

It's all trade-offs which is good.

In other words, there are probably going to be several builds that are either ideally played as Scion, or even only really make sense as the Scion, but it doesn't make sense to use Scion for the majority of builds simply because it pays for the flexibility and combo potential by giving up the best raw power available of the other classes.

You should only take scion if you want that combo of far-flung corners of the passive tree or a combo of (weaker versions ) of abilities available to 2 classes. And this is a hard "or", not a "and/or".

Yes after crunching some numbers the past few hours I have actually changed all my templates which were scions before announcement to the actual ascendancy classes that best benefit them. There was absolutely no point in getting nerfed skills even though I could choose 2 or a few more possible skill points by starting in another tree. Just my scenarios from 3 completely different types of characters originally scions. 1 melee 1 bow and 1 spell. Hopefully this is not the case for everyone.
How I see it down the road when it comes to builds...

Scion pick out jewel slots from her starting area then slowly pick out passives to their planned Final route. Once you get to Merciless and clear labyrinth spend Regret Orbs to respec the Tree. Scion will feel like the most expensive of builds now tbh since you'll need Regret Orbs to min-max her to the... max.
