Chain from gem give you +2 times, but ricochet +1.
Anyway, you can grab ricochet and drop chain gem for another gem like
- Slower Proj
- Inc Crit Strike/Multi
- Added chaos damage

From a defensive standpoint, would it be better to have Lightning Coil or an EV chest as the one I have below?

Don't recommend taking Vaal Pact without duelist life leech nodes OR Berseker ascendancy.
Ascend to Berseker and then take Vaal Pact if you want.
Swap rustic rash for a leather belt with good WED + Maximum life and resists.
You should cap your resistances and look for more life. You need to know that you are a evasion based, and sometimes you'll need to manually dodge hits. If you can't avoid, should count with you life pool, nothing more.

You can use curse on hit on your herald of ice/thunder.

Why Added Cold Damage on Blast Rain setup? Swap for Void Manipulation.

Thank you for the response. Can you explain the way curse on hit works? I didn't realize having CoH linked to herald spells mattered. Also, I hardly ever use frenzy anyway, would that matter? Also, i'm having trouble getting intelligence for my gems, and removing one of those skill points made me below my limit. Should I stop leveling up gems or what?

So my little Summarize of expierence.

I'm Ranger and tried Deadeye and Raider with my current gear. I still feel the need of Headhunter and some topnotch gear to fully utilize Pathfinder. Raider is good, it really fits the role for inbetween due to high MS and solid damage.

HOWEVER, from my tests: Get the "Ligthning arrow hits 2 additional enemies" Enchant on your Helmet + take Ricochet from Deadeye, take out the Chain gem!

There you go for your best clearspeed/AoE damage potential. I 1 Shot Bosses sometimes with packs around them with simply Lightning Arrow. Offscreening Bosses like Village Ruin and Excavation in like 2-3 Seconds.

I'm on 210k LA with vaal Haste and Atziri's Promise. 159k just with charges.

Yes my gear is good, but i still feel that this is the best choice to go.

Small Addition: If you can get your hands on Facebreakers with 3B+1G or 4B with +1 Socketed Gems: These are freaking nuts. Buffed with auras due to herald of Thunder and wrath being socketed there they increased by DPS by 9k (w/o Charges!)
