[Suggestion] - Hideout's Trading Post -

I like it, with the exception of some details (such as a mailbox, but i also get the jist of things).

I also like the fact that it's an option to have a dialogue between buyer and seller through the shop/item.

I don't think botting is a major issue here.

Thanks a lot ! I appreciate your effort on answer the post ^^

I hope we can discuss furthermore. What do you think about Botting ? Do you think it's a problem ?

I really cannot comment, because i have played in parties for end game mapping, but i am mostly solo self farmed and contained. I have only made about a handful of trades, most for currency items, or something i really cannot find or obtain.

IMO though as to botting, i don't think this system will have any effect. I haven't seen any evidence of it through game play. However i play the dump league standard. If people do use your system for botting to scan for buying on the low and selling on the high so be it. We are not here to attempt to police, and the people botting do tend to be more technical with 3rd party apps and scripting. Only GGG should monitor the player activity, maybe either by bandwidth or activity logs.

If a ban does need to be issued, i hope they can do it by MAC on the clients NIC. Since IP addressing is dynamic. External IP's not so much but it would be easier to change that than a MAC engraved on a network interface card or other piece of networking technology.

Botters should not be a determining factor for this proposal because people can always message and trade outside the game, even if they break rules by using RM $$$$$

I think the only thing i would suggest on your system, is no off line trading in any of the functions. The seller should look into his mailbox and pick the best offer or choose which buyer to sell to. That way its not so much 1st come 1st serve, but everyone has a chance to look at the merchandise. I think it should be a requirement for both players to be online to facilitate the trade in all forms/functions.

However, one question: Would there be a search engine of sorts? Cause if not, the trading system is pretty much not worth much. At least for me as a buyer.

If a search engine existed, then botting would become easy. It is actually very important that there isn't a search engine.

A search engine should be mandatory to facilitate easier trading and finding of buyers. My previous post at the end will explain how botting can be stopped.

Thanks for replying ! Why didn't you like the Mailbox system ? Is anything you can say ? I can improve/change my suggestion anytime if you guys think its needed.

Thanks a lot for the answer !

Yeah, i think in that way too. I mean, i've never heard that botting was possible in this game. I'm knowing that through you guys, because i've never heard of it until now lol. I didn't even considered that when i was planning my suggestion, because i though: "Meh, i doubt that people bot in this game..." But well, i guess i was wrong =P, but as stated before, i don't think bot should be a concern matter in this particular case.

Of course, we definitely should be aware and police the best we can, and maybe my suggestion would have some impact on botting, (I don't know how. But what i know is that someone ALWAYS thinks in a way of hi-jacking stuff).

So, as you said, bot shouldn't determine THAT MUCH if this will be implemented or not. If we keep that mindset, we won't add anything in terms of trading/negotiation in this game, because bots rules them all ! I think we shouldn't think this way. Maybe i'm wrong, anyone have a different opinion about that ?

yes, if we close our eyes, we all can make bots go away.

better not, you always have to consider that people will create and run and use additional trading platforms and services.
which also includes scripts that automatically flip items if that's possible.

maybe? just watch chris' opinion on trading at 23:20 min, for example sellers specifying buyout prices are a no-go.

trading is a really sensitive part of the game which can change how alot of players experience it.
that said, making trading easier is not exactly improving it or the game. if you're stuck at the game, trading your way over it always should be the second best option after actually keep playing to have a breakthrough.

Hmm... Interesting point. I guess you're right. What i meant was: Of course, we should consider botting, but i think it's a limitation thinking this way, "if can be botted, we won't implement it.".

As i stated in the Suggestion my system is just a placeholder. GGG can implement, tune it up, tune it down, change it completely if they want/need. AND not only GGG, but YOU guys can throw in some ideas too.

I would really appreciate to read some ways to improve or change my very own idea, it's a public post, so please, feel free to do that anytime you want !

And as always, thanks for the answer !

Botting should not be a consideration....

Their are always countermeasures people will take or create themselves via exploit in code, or just programming new apps that cannot be detected.

To prevent a great QOL idea because it can be potentially exploited by bots trying to dip the economy is ludicrous. They will always be there! The only thing you can do is keep patching the game.

If you want to temp stop botting, start filtering by MAC addresses from the NIC and External IP's from the clients ISP provider. Even than it may not help. But locking out a MAC engraved on a NIC will certainly slow them down, since they would need to buy new hardware to elude the bans.
I don't like it, just cause I like the trade via CHAT, and no one would do if a system like this exists.

See diablo3 etc.
