[Suggestion] - Hideout's Trading Post -

Before we start, I just want to clarify that I'm Brazilian and if i've stated something wrong or confusing here, please warn me, and correct me if you feel the need.

If you prefer, you could send me a PM if you don't want to "pollute" the thread. I'll be glad for your contribution =)

That being said, let's move on !
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the Spoiler Box below, you'll find the whole Idea behind the Suggestion.
You also might want to check the video FIRST, if you don't have too much time to read the whole idea.
(Beware, HUGE wall of text.)

• Idea:
Spoiler
When GGG introduced the Forsaken Masters content update, they've also introduced Hideouts.

Those, are spots that players can rest and "hide" from the Rogues and the turbulence of Wraeclast.

Using the Hideout System as a base, i've came up with a pretty interesting idea, at least imo ^^:

Hideout's Trading Post.

Once you get a Master to level 3, you are able to create a Hideout.

On the hideout, you have access to the Craft Station from this same Master.

My Idea starts right over here.

When a masters gets to level 3, you create a hideout and at level 4, you have access
to it's Trading Post, which also gives you a Shop decoration. (Like a craft station)

The Trading Post its a separate area on your own hideout that can be accessed only at master level 4 (which is the same level you'll receive the Shop Decoration.)

Each Master have it's own Shop Decoration which follows:

- Haku's Forge

- Elreon's Jewelry

- Catarina's Gallery

- Tora's Stall

- Vorici's Workshop

- Leo's Weaponry

- Vagan's Arsenal

- Zana's Cache

(They are just different decorations to fit better into your Hideout layout.
The intention is that they all have the same functionalities.)

The idea of the Trading Post being a separate area for your hideout, comes from the fact that players that are not in parties nor are friends of other players can't visit each others hideouts.

The idea will prevent this same fact.

In game, a player can set up if they want that non-party-members can visit their hideouts or not.

Trading Posts works a bit differently, if people want to set-up a shop, they still can block non-party members from entering their hideouts, but, their Trading Posts are still available for everyone else. If someone has your contact (which will be explained soon) they can chose "Visit Player's Trading Post" instead of "Visit Hideout".

Once you've set up a Shop at your Trading Post, it's time to propagate the news about it !

The player can click with the Left Mouse Button at his Shop (like the Stash), then four options will appear:

• Publish Shop at Notice Board
• Re-name Shop
• Edit Shop
• Remove Shop

* Leave Trading Post (Extra option for Customers Only)

--------------------------
- Publishing Shops:
--------------------------
A new Tab at the Notice Board will be added called "Shops", or "Trading Posts".

There, you'll find everyone's Trading Posts, including yours. (This is the 'contact' that i've mentioned before.)

Here you can click with the right mouse button and choose "Visit Trading Post" of your interest.

When you publish your very own Shop, you can choose it's Name and a Description, e.g:

" - Garry's Shop "
" Unique items ! Legacy, Non-Legacy, whatever ! "

Or

" - Larry's Shop "
" Currencies, Linked Stuff, Cheap gear !! "

Or

" - Barry's Shop "
" Budget for the average ;) "

Once a player has chosen to visit your Trading Post, they won't be able to enter your hideout, only your Trading Post. They WILL technically be in your hideout, but they can't leave the Trading Post room unless you have enabled the option of allowing non-party-members to visit your hideout.

When the player buy what he wants, he can leave the Trading Post by clicking the "Leave Trading Post" button at your Shop, and he'll be warped back to town.

----------------------
- Editting Shops:
----------------------

Now, here's the Fun part.

When you click "Edit Shop" a screen like this will appear:

*image*

You'll notice that it is similar to your Stash/Guild Stash.

Here you'll start with 4 Tabs, and you'll get an additional tab at Medium Hideout, and another one at Large Hideout.

With a total of 6 tabs you can put your items there and mark the item.
You can purchase more tabs and upgrade to premium tabs at PathOfExile.com (just like the Stash Tabs)

When you mark an item, you can chose the follow:

• Mark as Tradable
• Mark Price
• Mark Both

When you mark "as Tradable", you'll leave a note on the item for whoever's gonna see the marked item.

This option is useful for people that wants to only trade an item for another, e.g:

I want to sell a Windripper, but i don't want any currency, i want to trade it for a Mjolner instead. Then when someone hovers the cursor over your Windripper, they'll see a note like this:

"Windripper"
Tradable for: "Mjolner"
Note: "Legacy only!"

Or

"Windripper"
Tradable for: "Mjolner"
Note: "Legacy or Perfect Rolls only!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

By marking "Price", when the player interested on your item hovers the cursor, he will see the Currency that you want, and the amount that you want to trade for. E.g:

"Windripper"
Price: - Exalted Orb (100)

Or

"Quill Rain"
Price: - Chaos Orb (08)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

By marking "Both", the player may chose to pay right away in currency or trade for some other item. E.g:

"Windripper"
Price: - Exalted Orb (100)
Tradable for: "Mjolner"
Note: Legacy or Perfect Rolls only!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The difference between the Marks are:

• When you mark "as Tradable", people can't buy the item right away. They'll leave an offline message at your Mailbox (will be explained soon), making another offer, or inviting you for a party or asking you when you'll be available for the trade.

• When you mark "Price", people can buy your item right away, since currency doesn't have "rolls" and can be negotiated easily. They'll leave the currency amount on the "Price box" that every item will have after being set up at the store, and after click "Finish Purchase", they'll receive the item on their Mailboxes, and you'll receive your currency at your mailbox in a message like this:

Message Title:
Someone has bought your Windripper!

Message Content:

"Garry has bought your Windripper for 100 Exalted Orbs !"
"Click here to reclaim your part of the deal."
- [ Button with 100 Exalted Orbs ] -
(The button will do nothing if your inventory is Full)

• And, finally, when you mark "Both", the both cases above may happen. The player can send you a PM on Mailbox saying that your item is too pricy, or buy it right away with the right currency stack, or they may offer something more interesting than a Mjolner.
( I particularly think that is the best option for those who like to be versatile about their sales )

-------------------------------
- Setting Up your Items
-------------------------------

When you first open your Shop, you'll throw an item on a random tab, like when you throw anything in your stash. But this time, the Item Box Layout of the chosen item will be changed a bit:

*Image*

When someone hovers the cursor over the Item on your Shop, he'll see the descriptions just like any other items, Sockets, Sockets Colors, Links, Mods, Rolls, etc. But this time they'll see some extra features, like the Price Box(If they're buying), Notes, Marks (If they're selling), Edit Note(If They're selling), etc.

Click "Mark" to chose your mark Option mentioned above.

Click on the "Price Box" to deposit the asked currency value. (If it's you that is buying the item.)

After you've set up the item, you may click "Done" or "Cancel", and you're good to go!
Now you just wait until someone visit your Trading Post and see all your stuff =)

An optional feature (that I think it would be really welcome), is a "deadline" on the items.

When you post an item, the item has at least 1 week until it be bought. Or else, it'll be removed from the Shop and you can reclaim it back through your Mailbox, and post it again with a better price encouraging people to buy it.

I think this will help to easy the PoE database a little bit, since they won't be overloaded with a huge amount of items on sale for ever. I really don't know if its the most effective way, since i'm not a developer. But I'm confident that GGG will maybe think on a best way to deal with it. (If they plan on implement this system on the future of course.)

------------------------
- Editing Interface
------------------------

Some tools to help you on editing your shop more easily such as:

- Editing Info. (Just like the "?" explaining the Decoration System of Hideouts)

- Highlight Bar (Just like the ones in the Stash/Guild Stash)

- Buy More Tabs (Sends you to the Cash Shop at pathofexile.com)

- Review Prices (Interaction with Poe.trade, when clicked, the price of the item that you want to review will be shown for you on the internet as a page from poe.trade. The tool will search the Item ID on the Poe.trade database and show you the results. "The minimal price for Windripper at Poe.trade is 70 Exalted Orbs". This way, you can compare, and see if your price is too high, or too low. [ This Tool is Optional though, and i hardly believe that will be implemented, since if it would be implemented on the future, poe.trade would become obsolete, and they would have to configure it to search on other peoples shops to check the prices, and i think that won't happen since you can do it by yourself… BUT well, it's here anyway ^ ^ ])

-------------------
- The Mailbox
-------------------

The Mailbox is a separate decoration object from your Shop, which is also a decoration, and can be clicked just like any other interactive object, Stash, Guild Stash, Waypoints, Shops, etc.

When clicked, it will show 4(or more in the future) Tabs:
- Events & Announcements / - Friends Messages / - Guild Messages / - Shop Deals

PS: There's no need for it to be a Decoration, it can be integrated with the Shop Decoration itself or even be a default account interactive object like the Player Stash.

I think they're all pretty much self explanatory, so i won't spend much energy on this but, here we go:

- Events & Announcements
• News from GGG staff members and PvP and Race schedules, pvp events, GvG events, etc.

- Friends Messages
• Offline/Online messages from your friends.

- Guild Messages
• Offline/Online messages from your guild mates.
• Guild Events.
• Important Global Guild Messages. (Must be implemented as a Guild Feature too =P)

- Shop Deals
• Reclaim your Profits.
• Reclaim your unsold items.
• Reclaim purchased items from other people.

----------------------------
- Removing the Shop
----------------------------

Removing the Shop is the same as remove any other decoration, BUT, in this case, the only difference is that you'll receive a message like this:

*image*

"Please, remove all of your items from your Store before removing the decoration from your Hideout."

To prevent the items from being deleted or damaged somehow.
(idk how the mechanics works, but if GGG don't see the need for it, you can simply ignore this part =P)

Here's a 12 minute video that I made showing how my Idea would be if it was implemented !
(It was really hard to do it, so please give it a try =P)

----------------------
- Considerations
----------------------

This is just a Suggestion. Made with the hearts of every player haha, but still, it's just a Suggestion. (At least, for now.) I really hope that GGG shows some interest on it.

That said, I would like to clarify some aspects of the thread furthermore:

- The Mechanics described here doesn't necessarily need to be IDENTICAL in-game. Which means that GGG can use the concepts but not necessarily the whole numbers, methods and examples that I gave.

- I tried my best to conceal both wolds. Developers, and Players. I hope that GGG can make some money with this idea, and have even more Money to invest in their lives and on PoE. The more money they have, the better the game will become, I hope. We must help them on helping us =)

- I had to edit some Screen Shots to increase the value of the suggestion thread and to show my (and the community) efforts behind the idea to GGG, and to improve the visual communication of the idea for whoever is interested in.

- I would like to thank all of you guys, and i hope we can build a constructive Thread to who knows, in some future expansion we could see the results of this Brainstorm =)

Thanks a lot for your patience, and I'm happy to share this idea with you guys !
And don't forget to see my other suggestion posts please !

- Have a nice day everyone !

Well done!

Though your idea certainly is plausible allowing trade to be that unrestricted and easily accessible compared to now still worries me. I don't trust GGG to implement the necessary sinks and other checks this would need. I'm afraid they would go straight to lowering drop rates or boosting monster difficulty to compensate damaging those who don't trade while also making progression even further trade focused.

I understand trade needs QoL improvements to many but we must be extremely careful with how we change it.
When I began to read this, I had thought to myself "Well, this would work just like an Auction House would, and everyone should know how that will work out." I was pleasantly surprised.

This is a very fleshed out idea, and in my opinion, is overall a great idea. I would love for this to be implemented into the game.

That being said, does it open up a new route for botting to take more of a hold on PoE? In my opinion, not really. I may be wrong, but it would be very hard to have a bot go from shop to shop, looking for specific items at specific prices, and buy everything that is under this set price. It is probably very possible, but it won't change too much in the way of pricing.

The Mailbox system is something that should get implemented into the game, even if this shop post doesn't make it into the game. It is hard for guilds and friends to communicate with others in game, and it would promote guilds to feel more like guilds, and less like a smaller trading community.

The biggest problem that I have is the instant purchase of items. My biggest concern is the botting scene with this though. If you can buy items from someone that is offline, then there is probably going to be a way to abuse that through means of botting.

Overall, I think this would have a very positive impact on the game. People are always complaining about a better trading system in Global chat, and I think this would be one of the smartest ways to go about it.

Thank you for all the effort that you put into this post! I'm excited to see where this goes!
I like they idea, it looks good.

However, there are, I think, a few problems.

The first is the general problem of "if you make trade easier, everything you own and that drops to you except for currency and ultra-rare uniques will become less valuable". I think that has been discussed a few times and should be relatively obvious. This is especially a problem for permanent leagues.

The second is the problem that you effectively give players 4-6 additional stash tabs for free. I think this could be mitigated by allowing only 2-3 stash tabs and offering the more as microtransactions. Along the same lines is the problem that an ingame trading system might make players have less stash tabs, because they can trade away items easier and they will stay less time in their stash tabs. Then again, those items go to someone else's stash tab, so maybe not that much of a deal. They might also be going right onto the character they are intended for. Hmm.

Last but not least, you are shutting out players from the trade until they have a level 3 master. Cannot quite remember if I started trading before I had my first lvl 3 master (mostly buying, have hardly been selling anything).

However, one question: Would there be a search engine of sorts? Cause if not, the trading system is pretty much not worth much. At least for me as a buyer.
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
"

If a search engine existed, then botting would become easy. It is actually very important that there isn't a search engine.
@Topic:
Guys ! Thanks a lot for the response !! Let's discuss some more !

@Edit:
I forgot to mention that people can only visit each others hideout at the Notice Board. They can't simply go through the hideouts whenever they want.

I think botting it's a problem, but i can't see how it will makes things worse.

And as i said on the Considerations part, this is just a suggestion. The whole system doesn't need to be EXACTLY how it is shown in the video =), i would be really glad if that happens, but GGG needs to work on their creativity too xD.

That being said, the system doesn't need to be 100% the same. GGG might think in something even more complex to block botting... Idk, i would like to see a GGGs opinion about this =P

I'm really sorry for bumping this, but, as it seems, people prefer to whine about stuff instead of think about ways to improve the game. So i really hope the devs see this post this time.

I Really do.

+1 all the way.

The shop and decorations idea is not only cool, but it lets you further design your hide out. with the added utility to browse peoples shops.

To see the items in the stash tab, that alone is better than spamming text any day. The mail box is a brilliant feature to to leave messages in game while accepting trades. In theory by doing this you can remove the trade channel in public chat.

Great job on the video to sir, it really adds more depth to the game from a buying and selling POV. But the art behind the individual shop areas can get pretty cool and add money to the MTX shop, there is no reason whatsoever not to do this!

Thanks a lot ! I appreciate your effort on answer the post ^^

I hope we can discuss furthermore. What do you think about Botting ? Do you think it's a problem ?
