[2.2 Video Guide] Beginner's Build: Dual Flame Totem, Blood Magic Chieftain [Atziri & HC/SC Viable]

+3 staff
Sire of shards
2x good daggers

I still have a hard time deciding whether I'll go staff or daggers for my build. If I ever end up going staff I'll probably regrets the crits node for more elemental/fire dmg nodes.

a +3 staff with a lvl 3 empower sound pretty crazy for dps.

Would life leech instead of add chaos damage be worth it at all in certain situations? Id think with how fast fire totem hits mobs, it would be a really nice way to stay alive, but im not entirely sure.

Life leech on the totems doesn't leech life for you, it leeches life for the totems.
Ah thats boring then :p

Wands/scepters provide the best DPS for the build.

Sire of Shards is a niche item that is OK for spell totem, and definitely not recommended for Flame Totem.

Good daggers still lack cast speed.

Even a mirrored +3 staff ( +3, spell damage, cast speed, spell crit, crit multi) might not be much better than dual wands/scepters of cheaper price (and surely worse than a pair of dual mirror wands). A generic 6L +3 with some master-crafted cast speed will not pump out "crazy damage" as you think (even with +4 Empower). Crit is the best multiplier in this game and going non crit will simply set you back damage wise (regardless points you respec on +Fire or + Elemental).
How would I be able to improve this build with 0 currency and no uniques that favor a flame totem build
Spoiler

A few of the gems need higher INT or AGI that the items supplement and without them, the gems cannot be used

My resists are mediocre last I checked too, and I know people say you should have them capped

Clear speed currently is nice (I like being able to clear very quickly and this is the only build I don't have to spam curses or flasks), but I'm not sure how to get more tanky while keeping a good speed

I'm level 67 at the moment with all of these items

Then looking at my character's equip and my tree what do you suggest me to prioritize?

Since I got a pretty good rare dagger, will taking a consuming dark boost my dps a lot? I'm currently farming but I cannot afford anything expensive atm (so I'm too poor to switch to 6L mantle) and I don't want to buy a lvl 21 flame totem gem before I get mine to 20 and try to vaal it myself.

I hear a lot of people say they have 40k+ tooltip with each flame totem while i'm sitting here with a mere 17k per totem.
Hey guys,

Running this build with my first PoE char, since last week.
I'm now at level 70, and this is my gear:

What should I get next? Or will make a huge difference?
Running with:

75% RES
+/- 3500 LIFE
+/- 6000 DMG

Hopefully you guys can help me :)
Hello guys,
Another beginner here in need of some help :)
I followed the guide and managed to get my first char to level 70, the trip was easy, but now I have some problems: not resistance capped, I barely have enough dex to support faster projectiles, and the damage on flame totem is kinda off low now (around 6k with Fire Golem on).

My current gear (I know i should have faster projectiles instead of added chaos damage, but I got no luck with the socket colors on the mantle)
Spoiler

I don't have a lot of currency, but I have 1 Exalt and few Chaos, what would you recommend me to buy?

As for the tree I stayed with the guide mostly, just getting the extra node for +30 dex.
Hello totemers,

If I wanted to use CWDT+Tempest+Molten+Inc Dura inplace of the IC setup, what would be good levels for the gems ?

Thanks

I'm also a beginner but I'd recommend to change your gloves first, take a dual-res with some maximum life, they are pretty affordable and that will make quite some difference in survivability I think. Then, I'd continue with your boots, again dual-res + max life. If you select carefully the +res, this should get you capped.

Afterwards once you feel you are resistant enough, you could try to improve your dps by adding some cast speed on jewelry or go infernal mantle 5L (but expensive, 1-2 ex).
