I still have a hard time deciding whether I'll go staff or daggers for my build. If I ever end up going staff I'll probably regrets the crits node for more elemental/fire dmg nodes.
a +3 staff with a lvl 3 empower sound pretty crazy for dps.
Wands/scepters provide the best DPS for the build.
Sire of Shards is a niche item that is OK for spell totem, and definitely not recommended for Flame Totem.
Good daggers still lack cast speed.
Even a mirrored +3 staff ( +3, spell damage, cast speed, spell crit, crit multi) might not be much better than dual wands/scepters of cheaper price (and surely worse than a pair of dual mirror wands). A generic 6L +3 with some master-crafted cast speed will not pump out "crazy damage" as you think (even with +4 Empower). Crit is the best multiplier in this game and going non crit will simply set you back damage wise (regardless points you respec on +Fire or + Elemental).
Then looking at my character's equip and my tree what do you suggest me to prioritize?
Since I got a pretty good rare dagger, will taking a consuming dark boost my dps a lot? I'm currently farming but I cannot afford anything expensive atm (so I'm too poor to switch to 6L mantle) and I don't want to buy a lvl 21 flame totem gem before I get mine to 20 and try to vaal it myself.
I hear a lot of people say they have 40k+ tooltip with each flame totem while i'm sitting here with a mere 17k per totem.
Put your Faster casting and Faster Projectile gems to 20Q. That will increase your dps alot.
The real culprit for low dps though is the passive tree this build uses. Going all out BM and armor is fine for beginners and all but if you want dps, go crit.
Blood Magic is so unnessecary, just use Clarity as your only aura (you don't need other auras) and never worry about mana or the 100% increased spell damage taken on Mantle.
You can look at my char and tree for reference. My totems do 51k dps each (5-link) with no auras or pots, just flame golem. I also play self-found, everything I have, I found myself.

That's why imho this is about another build, not this one. Ppl playing this build can optimize their damage and survival w/o going crit. I do like the idea tho.
Maybe we should have a dedicated "Dual Crit FT" Thread, a "fork" so to speak.

The other question is what is "low".. I find it hilarious that people are like oh.. 27k.. (or whatever the OP's dps was) that's horrible DPS.... yet things still explode in half a second...

At some point you have to distinguish between mapping and doing bosses like Atziri.
For mapping there's a point where more damage just doesn't help anymore. If your totems need a second to start casting, and another to kill everything, you won't be any faster with 10 times more damage.
For bosses this is another story, more damage means less time needed and less time for the boss to harm you.
Personally, I don't like to go all out in either direction, I don't like dying, but still this isn't HC (for me at least). And this build is in my opinion well balanced and even leaves some options to you, as to what auras to run, for example.

I was answering Shangetsu who asked how to get better dps than his 17k dps.
You don't explode anything in half a second on 75+ maps with 27k dps let alone Apex of Sacrifice.
If you had a character higher than 75, you would know that.

Thanks, I'll try to put my gem to 20q and make change to my skilltree.
I've been thinking about BM's utility for a while and I agree that it is unneeded. Not only that, it also make any ES useless since whenever you use a spell it comes from your HP and therefore stop any ES recharge (which means that during a fight you can forget the fact you have any ES at all)

Yes you answered him, by pointing him to a different build style rather than the build he was currently referencing... but that's already been covered.
Actually I do have a character that high, but I was referring to videos showing supposed "low dps" builds mowing things down. Do I need a level 75+ character to get on youtube?
Okay can I get some help understanding weapons and stuff?
My wand with:
15% Spell Damage
48% Psyical Damage
Adds 4-92 Lightning Damage to Spells
Adds 7-16 Physical Damage
25% increased Crit Strike Chance
+79 To Accuracy Rating
Gives me 3,709.3 Damage on my Flame Totem
But this wand that I would assume is better:
17% Spell Damage
16% Spell Damage
12% Fire Damage
Adds 2-21 Lightning Damage to Spells
30% Increased Critical Strike Chance
only gives me 3,622.6
I try to follow the priority guide on the video. But it would seem that the first wand is better still? Can anyone explain?
