What is your opinion about new globes?

Are you kidding me??!! This is why they changed the UI? Who would be idiotic enough to complain about THAT?

With that line of thought, museums should then destroy those old greek statues and burn all paintings with nudity on them... This is beyond moronic.

That said, the skulls are nice. The lion is weird and takes too much of the mana globe.
Here since Closed Beta. Never found a Mirror. Still love PoE. :- )
My beloved Wife doesn't play POE, but when I asked her about her opinion she said, that girls are beautiful, skull is plain and boring, and lion just infantile.

Thank you my Love! :*

I don't mind which one is used as much in all honesty, but I do feel the old one suits the theme a little bit more and the new ones feels a bit "bulky".

I felt the characters of the old UI supported the exiled theme of the game as a whole, and their integration into the UI was great. The idea that they are holding up the Health and Mana globes and were actually built directly into it looked great to me, personally. The clean lines of the borders around the UI and the "embedded" orb feel of the borders around those looked great. In fact, the borders around the old globes felt like the globes were "socketed" into it to me.

The new UI, although it does support the new theme to the expansion, feels slightly more bulky as the lines contain a bit more detail and support the Karui totem themes. There is a lot more going on in the new setup, although the thickness of the borders around the orbs are the same as the old one, the extra detail with the roped, weaved theme just makes it feel like its bigger than the previous. It probably sounds a bit stupid but for some reason, when I look at my Health and Mana in the new UI, I feel like I am having to look for a little longer to get past the added clutter. I wouldn't mind the new UI at all if those borders around the globes could be a little bit thinner at least.

That's a very detailed description. Your observation that both have the same thickness prompted me to go back to the screenshots again, because when I put them side by side the new version definitely looked thicker to me.
I noticed that the old one looks like a setting for those globes, while the new interface looks more like an overlay by comparison: the previous one has shadows, dark and light (reflective) areas that give it a three dimensional look. The new, black one, in addition to using forms that don't work with the globes (roughly circular icons instead of slim forms following the curvature), looks a lot flatter.

Nothing to see here.

Yeah. Too much individual liberty keeps the world from being a tidy, orderly place. =^[.]^=

The observation that the borders felt like a setting were exactly my thoughts. The whole "Socketed" into the UI thing. Given that sockets are such a big thing, I felt like it was such a great, subtle reference to the games mechanics.

As for the thickness, the new one may be thicker, I can't honestly tell personally. Maybe it is because there is just more going on, I'm not sure. It certainly takes my eyes a little longer to get the information I want, I can say that for certain. I know that in terms of games design, a UI needs to be the least intrusive to our gameplay as possible, while also still looking nice.

I did a terrible terrible illustration of my problems in photoshop to try show my concerns personally.

The red lines outline the detail on the UI and for me, thats where I end up looking a lot as my eyes quickly glance over those sections to look at my Health and Mana. The old UI was simple, sleek but worked amazingly well. There wasn't much going on, but I felt that was a positive thing. The new UI has a whole load of lines and detailing that cause me to spend a little bit more time looking at the UI. We are not talking a whole lot of time here, but in a game like Path where you can suddenly die so quickly, portraying information clearly and quickly is a vital thing.

My main gripe is that, I don't care if they keep the lions and skulls, although I do feel they are not integrated into the UI as well as the previous one. My main problem is simply that there is just too much going on with the UI now.

The thickness around the globe is way too much and looks horrible. If the ropes weren't so thick it would look better. The older globes look way better.

I dont understand the lion, why a lion for mana of all things?

I like the upped quality and detail on the new UI, but I preferred the old one.
