Divination Card Update

love the concept behind divination cards... and lost love in particular looks great

my only concern about these cards is that they will drop so frequently (especially for items i wouldn't bother to pick up) and i will be constantly leaving them on the ground. screen clutter is already a pretty big problem in the game, and i feel like these cards should be made in a way so that they are a no-brainer pickup. i guess one way to solve this problem is to make niche, low-level cards only droppable in lower level zones (like for example, normal mud flats for the lifesprig). also, perhaps divination cards for items you might not otherwise care to pick up can be vendored for something useful (like 5 alch shards) so that they will always be worth picking up

on reddit the creator of the card said that the ilvl of the ring will be the same as the character that turns it in, up to level 80

I like the card designs but I don't really love the concept itself. I'm not a hater - just wonder about some things:

1. So high-level endgame folks are gonna be spending their time, say, farming the Ledge on Cruel Difficulty. If that's the case, seems categorically LAME

2. Tons of clutter in the public groups / trade chat for people spamming card sales

3. Has that chore-ish kind of World of Warcraft feel - "now go kill the beasts roaming here and collect 5 of these things"

Who knows, I could be dead wrong. I'm sure Awakening will be amazing either way

1. If by "folks" you mean "bots"... you're probably right.
2. Don't care... I don't have the chat interface on.
3. It will only be a chore if the rewards are common enough to warrant human players wanting to spend time doing it. From the looks of the cards, most wont qualify for that.

We really can't tell until we see the full implementation of this. If the cards are so rare as to be virtually impossible to find, we'll get one result. While if they're so common that they're not worth trading, we'll get another. So there's really no way to make predictions as to what impact they'll have on play.

I don't see a positive outcome as being likely.
im playing grim dawn and im happy :) fuck RMT beta

So are divination cards going to be the new way to use up more of our precious stash space? Looks like I can trade in a stack of cards for a Two-Stone Ring. As Archie Bunkie used to say "whoop-dee-do" (sarcastically). The artwork looks great but if the reason for them (like D2 runes) is more like the fragments and the better cards are another once in a blue moon drop event then their purpose is just another failure to deliver feature (more of a mirage than a real useful game mechanic).

I get tired of all the potential wonderful items PoE has but then GGG sets the bar so very high (sets the drop rate so RNG low) that only the no-lifers can play enough to actually get enough to drop to make use of them. I do understand and get the fact that certain items are long term goals to be worked toward (heaven forbid that we get everything super fast and get bored out) but GGG in catering to the few % of no-lifers is making it extremely frustrating (time wise) for the normal < 25 hour a week PoE players to achieve anything. Placing the carrot way out on a 39½' pole is just too much. There has to be a better balance, not too hard, not too soft, but just right. So far GGG has not managed to hit my target on PoE endgame rewards for time played.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

do you really think this concept is to enhance gameplay, for our benefit and what the players want? no it is just an alternative way for GGG to raise a some 'higher class' money from the early act 4 hype, nothing more. this probably is a simpler replacement of the concept of supporter uniqs, which made a lot more sense, but was too resource draining for GGGs team.

and pls, you know the thought of this having anything to do with high lvl endgame is laughable... chris even said a while back that act 4 content won't have much (if any?) high lvl end game content and that it will come later.

the sad part is as shags pointed out is that the botters are probably giddy and drooling over this concept the most.

Botters generally sell to RMT sites. If you don't support the RMT sites, why do you care? Maybe you should learn more about botting and how the programs that're out there work and try to find clever ways to locate them via coding in order to help GGG stop botters if you care so much?

Such negativity and cynicism. GGG is doing more for this game than most "AAA" games out there.

GGG has been hiring more and more people too, so talking about resource draining doesn't make sense as they're gaining resources. Maybe they're human beings and wanted to mix it up, try something new? You know, the thing GGG does all the time?

This absolutely has something to do with end game. You think Divination Cards won't drop ever in maps? Give me a break. You do realize that GGG has all the data as to where players spend their time and what they're doing and how they're doing it, right? You think they just make up random things and say "I have no data to back up why we're doing this but we're just gonna do it anyway, whatever!!!lolol!"

Sorry man, but you haven't been paying attention to how GGG operates. If you're coming from D3, I understand why you have the mentality you do. Maybe you need to incorporate some positive thinking into your lifestyle instead of this crazy cynicism you're in to.

You're right, you should be able to spend 4 hours a week and get all the super rare uniques 6 linked that you want. I mean hell, relative to your schedule, you put in alot of time into the game, so shouldn't you get everything you want? Ohhh wait...your personal schedule does not reflect or impact how the game works. Weird.

If you want guaranteed drops and to always get uniques randomly raining from the skies, go play Diablo 3. They've built the game for people with your attitude and schedule.

You realize that Lifesprig is a great leveling wand early in a league, right? Seems to me that set of cards is going to be farmed for quite a bit so people don't have to look at another weapon for a while.

The Two-Stone ring, per the creator of it, is ilvl 79 - that's AWESOME.

You seem to understand the point of Divination Cards (a long term goal to be worked towards in the case of a super rare unique/item) and yet you complain about it taking too long for someone who apparently plays 24 hours a week. You're also clearly misinformed as to the value of certain items.

Is your level 99 Standard League character going to go after the Lifesprig card set? No...but try your hardest to think outside the box (of your perspective) and see where it would be useful and you'll understand.
