Incident Report for Item Loss Bug

I am one that lost an item and I am EXTREMELY disappointed I won't be getting my item back I only lost 3 20% gems but they were important skill gems. Does this mean if an error like this happens again more people will lose items?

If I don't get my item returned me and my friends will be quitting because this isn't on. Its one thing to say ' yup we had a bug ' but its another to say its OUR fault your item you spent hours grinding for disappeared but you know what? We can't be stuffed giving you it back. Makes me worried and cautious to play this game what if another more serious bug happens and we lose something like our stash is it going to be ' oh sorry no items back ' then? Faith is something strong for gamer's if they lose their faith in a company, the company will lose out.

I for one won't be recommending this game to any others if this is how they treat them. As a kiwi I wanted to support this game and see it grow but doing a back handed thing like that 300 items lost NOT returned.. Well. That's just shit. PS I was looking at upgrading my supporters pack, Not any more.

Ok, so people are complaining about a bug where in game items and such were legitimately vanishing due to no actions of their own, I can understand that. I can also understand that GGG has stated that they cannot replace said items and such.

The way I see it, everything in the game (items, characters, and the like) is not the property of the person that created the account the items and characters are saved to, but the sole property of GGG. That's the way it is in any online game ever made, and that's how it's going to be in any online game ever conceived. Think about it this way: what is going to happen to your items when the income for the company is no longer sufficient to support staffing and server costs for the game? You think that the items and characters that you put your time and effort into gaining are going to be physically built and shipped to you? Never gonna happen, those items and characters are going to be scrapped along with the game. They aren't yours, never have been and never will be. You're simply being allowed access to them for the amount of time the game is still running. Don't get too attached and don't consider yourself entitled to anything that pertains to the game or the company that runs it, as you're doing nothing but deluding yourself and setting yourself up for a huge amount of disappointment.

Consider a situation that I personally ran into a few years back. I had been playing a game for a considerable amount of time and had sunk well over $2,000 into just one of my 12 accounts on said game. So one day I log in to run a raid with my guild only to find every piece of gear that I had spent years accumulating gone. Oh no!! I had gotten hacked and all of my gear was stolen!! So I log a ticket for customer support, not even asking for my gear to be returned to me, only asking that the offending player (the hacker) be reported to the authorities and their IP address being blocked from connecting so they can't screw some other unfortunate player. One week goes by, turns into a month, turns into a year, 2 years later... FINALLY MY TICKET HAS BEEN RESOLVED!! The resolution? $25 cash shop credit...

The same game has had one raid in particular that nobody has been able to complete in over 4 years because the game literally just crashes whenever you step into the boss room. No error messages or anything, just flat out crashes. Doesn't matter if you can solo the raid boss in your sleep, because you simply can't fight him, the game won't let you.

The point of this long ass wall of text? Be glad GGG actually works to try to fix issues as quickly as they can. Some companies such as the one in my example above don't even try to pretend to care, and shit on you even if you have a legitimate claim.

Just my 2 cents on the subject.

Shit happens. They obviously have no record to tell which items disappeared. So anyone could just say "hey my shavs disappeared" (Removed by Support). If you lose faith in GGG for this.. goodluck finding a company half as good to put your faith back in.

That's cute. I like how you twisted my words around to suit your pathetic insult. Try re-reading what I actually stated before putting your own twist on it. I was making an analogy about the people who are trying to be dismissive towards others and acting with a very blasé attitude.

I'm well aware of production costs, but there's the option of simply rolling the server to a restore point in which the bulk of the errors took place, which might not solve everyone's issue, but at least the majority who put their trust in GGG to have at least some form of stability with the long term investment of time they've put into the game. I was very near purchasing a Closed Beta supporter pack myself prior to this occurring. Had I not been pre-occupied with participating in the beta, which I am still doing despite the fact that nearly everyone has scurried off to the 1 month leagues, then I likely would be suffering a similar fate as the ones who've lost irreplaceable items. I'm still leery of logging into the live server right now.

Rolling back, i.e. deleting 1000's of newly discovered items and leveling progress over the last month (lets say based on how long the bug has been known about) seems like a better idea than just admitting that a small number are regretfully lost? how many hundreds of thousands of items would need to be taken out of players hands and levels lost to make up for the few hundred unfortunate ones? That just doesn't seem to balance out. No one says that this is a good thing but I think the proposes solutions are sometimes worse than the bug itself.

And okay, perhaps I took the ananlagy a bit too literally, but yes it is easy to be blase when this very possibility is addressed from day one by the TOS and just the nature of games in generally. Sometimes there will be bugs as regretful as that is. This isn't a realtime trading system or military weapons platform, it's not designed for 0-deficiency. Though some static analysis might have cought that kind of bug.

Lots of good company's out there, many stronger and better companies do a little more then ' Sorry you lost your items, we know what items disappeared we just think you might of dropped your 6L shav's for lols ' I've had this happen in the past and got better support then no information about it for 5 days and still haven't even gotten the Micro transaction back so ' good company? ' All the traits of a bad one. I thought being a kiwi game it would be better, Sadly not. Disappointed, I came to this game not because of the diablo element but being proud we have a game made by kiwi's doing well just to be stiffed first bug.

I've also played games on both of your stories paid 2k+ USD on a game for it to shut down, didn't blame the game or be salty over the money lost I got my moneys worth from it in my mind, BUT a glitch that isn't your fault taking an item you worked DAYS a random drop a gamer's joy of seeing that drop and making that item just for a random un-avoidable glitch to take it and you hear nothing about it for a week - I messaged them and got ' we set the information to the relevant team ' - then nothing imagine that, then not getting an email but having to have to find it on the forums and told Oh sorry its our fault gl finding another item + the 4-6 gems you had socketed into it. You talked about other games, I've seen other games that don't care but help you get your item back, in my eyes that's better then a caring company, a company you can rely on is better then a company that just says sorry you lost your - insert value item here - Better luck next time aye. No good game company wouldn't give at LEAST something to the people effected rather then a sorry by forums, the key thing of a good company is they ARE reliable and they take ACTION when they do things wrong not just say sorry and fix the problem.

You cry.. so much... Shit happens get over it.

THEY CAN'T TELL WHAT ITEMS DISAPPEARED SO THEY AREN'T JUST GOING TO TAKE EVERYONES WORD FOR IT LOL

What don't you get about that. Thats a good way for people to get free items they didn't earn. Like .0000001% of the community lost a single item. Yeah if its you it sucks.. but shit happens so stop crying about it and do something. Move on and keep playing or go play a different game. It honestly doesn't change the way GGG is handling the situation because there is nothing else they can do.

We must of read a different forum post because they said they KNOW what items got destroyed now it doesn't take a genius to know people don't vendor 6L shavs or value-able items they use, and wow when someone defends a case its ' crying ' I am speaking for the people who lost items + skills which are extremely important people lost A LOT its a game YES sure, but if someone punches you in the face and steals off you and says ' hey sorry man ' but keeps your shit Would you just shug and go ' eh at least he said sorry ' saying sorry is one thing but they have done nothing to back it up, the way I see it the victim should get something from the guilty party or am I the only one who looks things from a morally correct stand point anymore? I judge people by the actions not the words said. If they can't give the items everyone 200 points or so from the shop yes, people who aren't effected gain but its better then a hollow sorry and costs them nothing to give that's what good companies do, seen it many times.

Who the fuck ar u? What are u doing here , u lost some items with this bug? Simple funboy? GGG can't do any for its players cos this team dont have good programmers (POE code is shit).10 days ago i lost belt(got empty slot on char when i run Atziri) i mail GGG in 10 min after this. Its was not a problem for me, i trade a new one belt , a new one skin and 6 mtx poins for this, but i mail GGG if some people lost top items? Now i see this thread. I wanna ask u Chris, how many money u need to take a good programmer in ur team. All who lost items was supporters(and i see mostly top supporters), may be we need to pay more for POE?
