Update on Deterministic Lockstep

ayyyy lmao
so nice
You have entered Ghetto.
I am looking forward to testing this :)
Take care out there.
I told everyone that I wouldn't come back unless the desync was fixed.
Well....
I can't imagine how many others will return with this fixed.
Umm.. so how low your latency has to be if you don't want to have lags in lockstep mode?
At least read the first post people?

lockstep mode is good for <100 ping connections.

You fight a hopeless battle. Why read when I can ask others to spoon feed me the information.

It's good for anyone who tolerates X ms delay on their actions. You can't assume everyone thinks 100ms delay is OK. You can't assume everyone would think 100 ms delay is problematic either.

Just because Chris says 100ms+ makes predictive better doesn't mean it is.
The key thing to consider here: what does 100 ms mean?

100ms is 1 tenth of a second.

are you all proposing that you can react faster than ten times
a second? I must assure you that biologically you can not.

back in the day counterstrike was playable at 200-300 ms.
though we would notice this was inadequate at some instances.

the moment cable internet showed up, offering sub 100ms,
it was 100% player skill. you lost because you were slow,
not your internet.

100ms is blindingly fast, you can not react that fast at all.

This is true, but that's not what we're being asked to do with Lockstep mode. If you are presented with an unknown event, then I completely agree with you that 100ms is way too small a time to process that event and react to it. However, if the start of the event is known (because you initiated it) then 100ms is definitely a detectable timeframe for human eyes.

I think that number is just a general guideline to help players decide if Lockstep will be right for them. Undoubtedly some will enjoy Lockstep with >100ms latency, and some won't like it no matter how low their latency is.
Lol i still don't have beta access why?
