Some of you people need to realize the "Desync" method is actually in many ways superior. Input delay is the worst thing in online games bar none.

I'm just glad they are giving us a choice and not forcing lockstep on us. More than likely I will be keeping the current system.

thanks GGG

Especially in fighting games. Fuck input delay.

I'm a big time fighting game player so I completely agree with you on that front. It's not such an issue in a game like this but still...

Even Chris has acknowledged that from a game-play standpoint, Client predictive is a better option so I am actually more excited to hear they have fixed a lot of problems with this mode and cant wait to see how much its been improved.

I was really worried about this change. but since we get a choice I'm really really happy.

I don't know anything about lockstep or desynch modes. As a hardcore player, I only want to know one thing: Which mode is more likely to get you killed?

@GGG: You've shown again why you guys are the best gamecompany there is :)

no more desync death?! hell yeah
This is probably the most important PoE improvement/update so far. I've been playing melee builds mostly (two of which are flicker) and having suffered from desync quite a lot, I'm really looking forward to this change!

If you have latency < 100ms (150ms?) you use lockstep mode if you don't want to get killed, if you have more latency you use the mode we have now (according to news post this mode also got some improvements). The lower the latency you have the better lockstep mode is going to be for you.

Well this seems like a huge improvement to the whole desync issue of the game and i hope it will work out. Especially for melee characters that suffer so much from it. Kudos guys!

Im from South Africa got latancy of about 220...im still screwed.
How can I lower that latancy?

You can't, once GGG add some more servers you might get a better latency...as it is atm South Africa is routed to london then to the servers in amsterdam...they are supposed to be opening a server in london so once they do you may see the latency you have drop down a bit but i don't think it will be that much

Many bugs with this mode have been uncovered during the implementation of Deterministic Lockstep and have been fixed.

I guess that's my passive-aggressive way of saying "I told you so," to the nay-sayers.
I am extremely excited to try out the new system.
Why? I live in hotels for work and best connection I get is WIFI 5mb download-2mb upload speeds (on a good day).
Looking forward to a lot less deaths due to desync.
Thank You.

Well shit, so basically only New Zoolanders or peeps with golden pockets to afford 3 fiddy internet will have the desync fix?

Well shit. I'm as for from New Zealand as you can get.

There are no servers in New Zealand.

Regular predictive sync is a lot better now as well due to hundreds of fixes to sync issues.

We-he-he-hell then, looking forward to this update :D

Really depends on your playstyle and the situation. You'll die to other things with the new mode, but i'd say that lockstep should make it more comprehensive WHY you died, as in: make it more clear/avoidable in the first place. Bad connections have cost millions of virtual lives, but that's easier to accept than the feeling that the GAME screwed you over rather than your connection.
