How the Closed Beta is going so far
That's some stupid move from GGG's side...
I mean, they're hosting a Free to play game but just plain close up all new content to 85.6% of players (factual numbers calculated from moons alignement). When you're doing the beta of your game, it's usually to tease, gather data, server stresstests, core bug hunting and so on... Why doing it AGAIN? They were on alpha/beta for years, all the core parts are already rounded, the game found its players so teasing is not useful anymore. tldr: let me play u twats. |

" When you have a culture of "beta" being the new way of giving content without polished standards (how long was gmail in "beta") instead of instilling the testing aspect of it, it's pretty natural to see a lot of people having different expectations from "beta" especially if they don't make a clear statement on the mission of the beta. I think the whole beta/A4 fiasco is a perfect example of miscommunication and highlights the important of going beyond simply transparency. For this medium, it requires a proactive, explicit explanation of goals. If you don't make it clear to everyone, the space you leave behind can be filled with so many misguided thoughts. |

Glad I haven't gotten into the beta, means that I don't need to buy anymore packs.

Thanks as always for the update, Chris. I spent a fair amount of time yesterday watching several streamers, and comparing the various ways that each approaches being a beta tester. One in particular (ZiggyD) took the time to launch the NPC dialogues, read the environmental lore, and actually had the game soundtrack audible during his stream. Heck, we even got to watch him fill out his beta note sheet; that, in my opinion, is what being a beta tester is all about. Rory and Bex actually showed up in the chat room; seeing members of the development team interacting so closely with the community took me back to the days of closed beta. It was about as good a time as I can have watching someone else play a game.
Keep up the great work; and thanks again to Rory and Bex for stopping by and saying hi. "Experience is the best teacher, but there's only one seat in his classroom." Play with honour and show some class - www.theAmazonBasin.com Last edited by OldeSchool#5333 on Apr 22, 2015, 5:41:38 AM
