Race Season Ten Prizes, Patch 1.3.0k and Cheating

First off let me note that I have never used any of these magical programs/ scripts/ whatever. There were threats of being banned, and I have put WAAYY to much into this game to take the risk.

Secondly, I really, really hate this kind of authoritative zero(+1)-tolerance stuff: such a thing is INHERENTLY abusive, stupid, and just plain f-ing evil.
Why? Because there is a VERY serious lack of proportional response going on here: all 'cheating' is NOT the same.

As I read through the comments on this thread, I cannot help but feel that a very many of those who want instant-forever-bans-account-deletions have little invested in this game: else they would be VERY weary of suffering at the hands of someone/ something making a mistake and murdering your account (alternatively, they are really quite naive: you walk under enough trees, and eventually a bird will shit on you.)

So.

0) Accounts should not be deleted - except after review by a human being: use lock-out instead.
1) The offense TYPE should be recorded (the more detail, the merrier.)
2) If the offense if minor (e.g. in PvE, using a auto-flask tool), then after the second (minor) offense, simply lock-out the account for say 2 months.
3. If the offense was minor, then the warning-number should reset back to zero (after lets say 6 months.)
4) There should be a procedure where I could complain/ explain/ argue, and have my warning reset back to zero (e.g. if there was some kind of misunderstanding involved: "Gee, you made having two clients running at the same time bannable? Since when??")

Note that I have not mentioned the malicious evil stuff - how you deal with that, is none of my concern... AS LONG AS YOUR DETECTION PROGRAMS ARE BUG-FREE... which is REALLY unlikely... oh, wait...

I am not good enough (nor is my www good enough) to really race (I try and weave through/ too close by a group, and I may likely desync and die: happens all the time even when I actively try and keep my distance from such situations. Not to even mention trying to highlight/ aim with bow, wand.)
Apart from not liking PvP, I cannot play that either (the game-reaction-speed I often see in other players is just amazing, comparatively: sometimes its like they are magically blinking around.)

So if those two are your main concerns, then kindly use decapitation THERE: NOT people playing PvE.

I mean, who CARES if someone uses a script to turn on all his auras in PvE??? What does it matter! I would LOVE to be able to use something like that! What, does doing it make life miserable for everyone else? Does it make the world so very much darker? WHO THE HELL CARES!

Let me also say this: I fail to see why you would allow macro programs to link something like /oos to one key - according to your logic, not everyone has that, so then no one should have it.
Otherwise, build it into the game yourself.
I, personally, consider 1key /oos to also be cheating - its not in the game, and someone is using something outside of the game to give himself and unfair advantage... IN PVP AND RACES!
But then again, I really don't care about such little things... why should anyone?


I assume that lots of people want to scream at me now - dudes, I don't care... I just don't want to be fried by some bullshit detection program, with no recourse afterwards. That's really all.

So, how about telling us what QoL features you're working on right now?
I take it the particle slider is only a week away or so.
More transparency is needed, GGG!

Its easy if a macro enters one command, per key press, it is fine. Ie /oos, /remaining, /item level.

If it enters more than one command per key press. Ie spamming all trade channels at once, or hitting all your flasks and logging out with on one key, it is not alright.

The item info script:

You can point to an item in the game hit ctrl c, open a txt documet hit ctrl v and copy the items info and do whatever you want with it. It's a feature of the game provided to you for your use!

The item infoscript only reads the same data from the clipboard, and runs it through its database to show the mods, brackets, dps, # of sockets etc. It does not issue any commands to the game. It is fine also.

I have been using it for months and I have never logged into a cheat warning.

As for altf4 think about it. Its a windows command and has nothing to do with anything. Make all the scripts you want for windows commands no one can stop you.

Hehe I didn't know what alt+f4 did, had to try it, now I know :p

Pity it's taken all this cheating business for GGG to get off their asses and maybe contemplate adding some features that people want..

Sure you can. It's the exact same principle: warnings serve a purpose. A large portion of people who receive speeding tickets stop speeding afterwards. More serious offenses receive more serious punishment. My understanding is those who were found botting got banned immediately, no warning. Those with lesser infringements (maphacking) got warnings.
