" We will. Enki said he would be back Wednesday and update the guide. There’s very little he can do for a new PoB though when PoB isn’t updated itself. There is also little information on new gems, uniques, veiled mods, and focus skill in order to see a proper build adjustment. The recommended “starter” will likely remain untouched until he can test them. Still, as I mentioned earlier, I like the idea of using the buffed Tempest Shield to proc Arcane Surge and Enfeeble. Granted, that will likely only work. If we don’t remove the shield since they have higher block of dual wielding or staves. |

Hello, Betrayal will be my first league and I've been reading on arc/mine as one of the best starter builds. But I love self-ccasting (mine is no fun for me) so here I am. This build looks really cool.
My question is: I read everywhere that self-cast arc is significantly weaker than arc/mine, but how much? Like, what's actually the content at which we start to feel a real difference in term of efficiency? First of all thanks to everyone who put in all the effort to reply to questions in here while I was gone, I really appreciate it! Just gonna go over everything that hasn't been answered yet, except for Delve upgrade questions which are irrelevant by now:

It's a very good league starter. I've personally started the previous two leagues with this build and will do so again in Betrayal, this time with an even stronger setup than before.

Compared to Pendulum, Liege gives us more total damage and mobility increases under the condition that our Lightning & Flame Golem are up.

That's still up to date, two passives are way stronger for us than anything any of the bandits have to offer.

Vaal Haste/Grace + replacing Clarity with Cold Snap and using Clear Mind. The Vaal Auras still need to be casted but they do benefit from the Inc Duration gem in the CwDt setup.

Arc alone is enough, especially with the changes coming with next patch. CwC Tendrils would be a straight up damage loss.

Smite would complemented this build very well, it grants an aura on hit that gives flat lightning damage and shock chance to the player and allies.

This changes next patch, but not to what I had originally planned.

Traps seem to scale single target damage a little easier, and all the trap nodes complement an additional Lightning Spire Trap where imo most of the difference comes from. Selfcast has the advantage of being able to clear faster with an above average setup and having Inpulsa explosions, which eliminates the dangers of certain on kill effects such as Porcupines and leaves no corpses for Detonate Dead. The biggest difference is in the playstyle, some people simply just enjoy one or the other.
--------------------------------- Good to see the build is mostly unaffected by patch notes. I'm a little bit sad about a consequence of the stat stick nerf, if I understand it right it means we can't use Whirling Blades with Sceptre + Dagger which was the planned setup for 3.5, but i've ran the numbers and made some testing and found a good compromise. Regarding the Inpulsa nerf, this should really only be noticeable at high tier Beyond Bosses and Depth 500+ Delves. I'm more worried that they might have made it T1 Rarity now, time will tell and if so, i'll work around it. I'll wait with updating this guide to 3.5 until tomorrow, mostly just to get a look at Lv20 Storm Brand and if it gets a place in this build.
