First, I would like to make an intro to the rest of my comment, feel free to skip it
Recently, lots of noobs have been joining the game, PoE has been my favorite game for a while now, (competing with LoL^^') and to see so many noobs joining in, it just feels so good ! But anyway, I've met a guy trough trading and we ended up discussing about our builds. So he told me about his build and that he is following a guide on the forums. I've selfbuild all my chars and never felt the need to look for inspiration on the forums, but I totally understand why some ppl would prefer to check for builds on the forum. One day this guy tells me, he just picked acrobatics and that he can finally grind some decent maps! And I'm like: "What? Acrobatic? the passiv that reduces your ES/armor/block? Noob: Yes, thats what the guide says Me: But, don't you use a staff and have like 300 intel (= +150%ES) Noob: yes, I got 333 intel and I'm using PoH like the guide says. Noob: you wanna see the guide I'm using? Me: Sure So here, I come on this post and I have to say, its really well done, I so glad ppl take their time posting such things on the forum to help ppl out. I just got a few things I would like to discuss about this build, that really Grind my Gears... 1)Why picking 15% curse cast speed? For 1 more passiv point, you can get 10% curse effect it would: -Warlord Mark: increase mana/life leech by 0.2 -Assa Marl: ADD 1% crit chance and increase 4% crit dmg and hp/mana on kill 2)The reason you pick vaal pact is because you feel like, your total health pool is not big anaugh to sustain the next hit you might take if you don't heal quickly anaugh. this is how I would solve this: -Remove acrobatic to increase your ES = Bigger life pool (now your Int, "Carcass Jack", 12%block from staff, "written in blood" and other ES passivs you allocated are fully effectiv) -Take Ghost Reaver to keep that additional pool of HP up (ES). -Now that you can regen health again (vaal pact out), the 0.8% you picked and an additionnal 1% in templar will help with the sustain dmg on health, you can then remove the mana/regen mana you picked near the witch to get reduced mana cost at the templar (your nova cost 130 mana or something? so 9% is pretty effectiv) My change to your final build:

PLEASE Don't take me wrong, I'm glad you shared such a build for new players. I'm just concerned about my new friend and futur ppl that might use your build blindly, I am just offering an alternativ/solution. Please, some feedback (from anyone) would be very much apreciated. IGN @RapHordes @Rafice

" The use of Vaal Pact is for reflect. At the DPS this build gets too, a reflect pack would cause you to kill yourself very quickly. The instant regen is applied before the damage taken from each mob with reflect on it, so the process is: Heal > Take dmg > heal > take damage Without Vaal Pact it would be: Take dmg from all mobs > Heal over time Also Ghost reaver applies regen to ES instead of life, meaning that you no longer regen life, only ES. a CI build would use this, but not a life build. |

" that would be zeoloth's oath. Reflect has been nerfed over and over, there is only the maps that are still a problem. Never forget about flasks these reduce the reflect by a tremendous amount, I doubt you can get OS unless you are sleepy/not paying attention. its true you wouldn't be able to run ele reflect easely, but like another guy said, neither can you run immune to curses. Most build have their map mod nemesis, isn't it why Chaos/parties are made for? I was thinking about how to deal better with some bosses and trash. Trash ... like the hopping spiders in the dry lake in Act 4 Merciless as well as trash in some map runs. What I did was install a level 19 flame totem in a spare slot. It works wonders! I cast the totem, it takes out the trash whilst I concentrate on the big mobs with Ice Nova. If you have a spare slot, try it out. |

It was very fun build to play but i need to say its not for chill after work, beeing tired drinking beer and smoking ;p. I stoped at 90 lvl. Ill back to it on standard one day. I'm doing whispering ice build now, my 1st was ice crash. I love ice skills. From those 3 builds i WI is my favourite. Cheers for build mate. |

I gave this build a good run for a week or so, but I died too many times. It's great fun smashing packs with ice nova's but if *anything* goes wrong...you're dead. Worth a go though, as the clear speed is spectacular... |

Hey guys, just wanted to give u an update:
After checking our buiild again, I realized we DO need clarity. Therefore, this build requires 2x Empower and 2x Enlighten to be amazingly fun and good. Our best (so far) gems setup in my own taste is: Ice Nova-Faster Casting-Added cold damage-Cold to Fire-Concentrated Effect-Empower (for 5L drop empower) Lightning Warp-Less Duration-Curse on hit-Assasin's mark-Warlord's mark-Increased AoE (for 5L drop Increased AoE). Arctic Armour-Clarity-Enlighten-Summon Ice Golem CWDT-IC-Increased Duration-Vaal Grace Ice Bite-Herald Of Ice-Enlighten-Empower At the end, while finishing all/most of the passive tree, we have 7x power charges, 4x endurance charges and 4x frenzy charges always up. For single target swap Ice nova for Flame Surge, make sure the 2x curses always on the boss and the mana shouldn't be an issue anymore.
