im following 'core' build since this is my 1st witch and adding rest by myself, but simply there are no nods with dex there, except +30 on the CI way, which i already took, will respec it later when i get more dex, support gems>passive skills at this lvl IMO

core build is what most cold crit witches are based off of, every build is different.

lv 78, 2k7 health, 4k5 ES, max Res, -60% chaos res, 1k7 dps + 30% crit. chance Freezing Pulse, 373dps ice spear spell totem gmp.
any suggestion will welcome :P
I'm thinking how to improve gear with ~16 gcp in my stash.

I have some questions about the passive skill tree.
Where should I head first, Shadow tree or templar tree?
And when should I start investing heavily on Energy shield nodes?

I feel that you could possibly get a better lightning resis ring. That mana and life regen isn't all too useful, compared to something like extra resistances. Thats My opinion however.

The biggest thing overall, is to get gear with a higher %ES on them. Mostly your boots, gloves and helm.

I would then try to get a slightly better wand myself. Your wand has a few useless stats, crit if you could roll the same one with a little bit more spell damage and/or crit modifiers, it would be a very nice wand.

In general, Templar is the "safer" tree, meaning more defense. The Shadow tree is more for crit chance/multi, meaning more offense. Thats your choice.

You get more ES when you need it. If your dying or getting close to being killed, look through your defensive stats (ES,health and resistances. Armor if you use it) and determing what could be improved.

Most of the time, getting 75% resistance in everything will be good enough, but that won't be till your second playthrough. However, more ES is always nice, just make sure to not sacrifice too many crit/damage nodes.

Thanks for your comments. They are a couple of cast speed rings I've purcharsed:

finding better helm, gloves and boots is not easy, because I need these links for FP; IP and auras :(
noob question: you meant I can modify some stats on my wand? how?

as for Quirom the wand is decent but for me

this was and i still think its the best in slot weapon for a cold crit witch. and for a high level unique the price is quite decent (2-3 exalt)
