A Cold Crit Witch Guide 2.0 (RE-DONE!) Check it out!

By the way after much work and tweaking this is the build Im working on in hc atm.

Hello I am a CI Ice Crit Build!

Most important thing for hc is to grab the center es, calm, and shadow es nodes as soon as possible, then head over to templar area or grab the lower es half circle.

ES characters are much harder to survive to endgame in hc than hp ones, trust me. My BM ranger and LS ranger both breeze through compared to how careful I have to be with my witch. By merciless however when you have most of the major es boost areas and the 30% innate resists things get much better.
I'm still learning a great deal about this game, can someone enlighten me why the wand does significant (100 dps) more damage compared to the dagger using Freezing Pulse.

Due to the spell damage, at lower levels, crit chance and multi doesn't do much. Even tho you have 100% crit chance on the dagger, your base crit chance has to be low, so the damage doesn't improve too much.

Hi, this is the build (95 points) I want to use with my witch, can someone review it please ?

I am a bit concerned about the total lack of armor in this build, is it reasonable to use granite flasks constantly ?

One thing I want to point out is that when you play with a 5 link the mana cost is high for freeze pulse, at level 60+ my pulse cost 72 mana [Freeze Pulse, Faster Casting, Faster Prjoectiles, Added Lightning Dammage and Greater Multiple Projectiles] Going for lesser the mana cost multiplier would be 150% instead of 200%.

How I would change your tree:

crisis solved.
Has anyone tried this build to a high level map standard?

I'm currently level 60... I deal a good amount of damage but I die so friggin quickly it's unbelievable..

I'm always in the backlines until all mobs are dead and by the time they die the loot is gone.. do things get better 70-80+? Because it is painful to see barbarians charge in and snapping up loot.. once my ES is better etc can I be more in the front line or have I picked the wrong class for loot attainment in groups?
hi. i dont mean any offense, but i noticed a couple things you might wanna review in future revisions.

1. in the CI section you say: "-Do not need maximum health/life regen on items.".
The problem with this is that the probabilities you will be stunned/frozen/shocked etc. all depend on what your hp would be if you wouldnt have CI. (see mechanics thread in general beta).
So unless you use items/passives to avoid being stunned/frozen you should have some hp on your equip, even with CI.

2. You should make clear that there are 2 ways in which freezing pulse can freeze enemies.

The first is its implicit chance to freeze, which is at its peak in the moment you shoot the pulse, and then quickly gets less, until "the pulse runs out of time and dissipates". The best/only way to max this chance for mobs that arent very close to you is faster projectiles.

The second way are crits, but simply critting isnt enough, because freeze duration is very dependant on the amount of cold damage inflicted, and if its too low, targets dont get frozen at all. Imo its best to try to keep the various dps increasing stats balanced. And with a significant dps upgrade you should almost always be able to freeze better.
Faster projectiles helps as well.

3. Finally...about Frostbite.
Its great against mobs where you dont really need a curse at all, like zombies or Hillock. Against the dangerous ones like flicker strike or very fast mobs its not that helpful. I like Temporal chains way better for endgame stuff, it slows everything mobs do, and gives you so much more control.

at the poll in the OP i would like to see a youtube clip with specific builds...

the web is full of generic clips with generic details builds.

Isn't going to be a "DO THIS AND THIS THEN THIS AFTERWARDS THIS".

It will be more of a guide to making a build that could work. Such as notable passives, nodes that are traps, whether or not a witch will work out for your planned build. Thing like that.

well to answer to POLL i would say yes :)

1) the key word being NEED, it does help, but the reason why people take CI is to free up extra stats. That being said, I was planning on covering that on the item page, when I get around to it.

2) thanks for that, I wouldn't of caught it otherwise.

3) I never thought about running temporal chains as a cold crit witch, more of the common ones. Even then, the skill section is in need of an update. Thanks for the suggestion.
