Tried that and had to respec. You can't tank your way through mobs, especially flicker strike mobs and fast moving ones that tend to spread out like those snakes and ape like things in the beginning of act 3. The larger the mob, the more you are in a stun lockdown and can't retaliate. Usually mob damage taken > life leeched, so you end up running anyway.
Life got much easier the moment i switched to spell totem + summon skeletons as my main defense. On the other hand i totally suck at gaming. I'm more comfortable playing stuff like heroes of might and magic where i can stare at the screen for minutes while figuring out my next move. So what do i know.

Is Crtital Strike chance both for Spells and Weapons? Does it even work for Spells?

If it isn't specified as being "for weapons" then yes, it's a global property that works on spell aswell as phys.

In order to capitalize on castspeed, you need to "channel" your spells. In most cases while playing solo this isn't easy accomplished. Cast speed inflates dps, so you can't rely on the dps number as a reliable source of information.

I believe the opposite is true. The faster you can cast, you better you kite because you spend less time running and more time casting. Eg if I am running away from an one-shot-capable melee enemy and I can stop for 1 second before I need to resume running, it is better that I can cast 2 Fireballs in that 1 second than only 1.

In general, cast speed is a major DPS increase. The only argument against it where you might say that more cast speed = less damage because if you cast very fast, you can run out of mana earlier.

But I agree that without Proliferation it is not great. However with Concentrated Effect, it's damage is through the roof (about 4 x the DPS of Ice Spear).

But for Spear, and particularly, FP, I hear all over this thread that cast speed is very beneficial

Just in case I confused anyone, I meant that I do not specifically rely on Cast Speed to improve my chances of Freezing things (ie more speed = more hits = more chance to freeze as razor stated above). What I meant is that since Cold Snap is extremely reliable at freezing for me, I don;t need to worry about Cast Speed if I don't want to.

Cast Speed is still great, and one of the best DPS increases we can get. It is especially synergistic with Crit Chance as well.

Finally, we are Ice Witches, we do not rely on kiting to stay alive nor minions to tank for us. We FREEZE stuff before it gets dangerous. This means we get to stand there and spam our high damage spells more than other witch builds manage to do. Hence of all witche types, we probably get the most out of Cast Speed.

Stay away from faster casting nodes in the beginning. You don't want to be the ADHD kid. Get ES instead. Girls fall for it. Makes you totally cuddly.

Fine tuning for the advanced rich (imagine some linked pictures because i sure as hell haven't got any high grade stuff):
You spend a bucket of exalts for some nice gear? Dump the skeletons. They smell funny anyway. Totem + ice spear for more damage.
Upgrade FP to 20% and replace faster projectiles with added chaos or some other extra damage stuff.
You are level 70 and don't know where to spend your skill points? Get faster casting.
Be fast, be deadly, be Bond! Kick ass and have all the girls you want!

I was talking about the flicker mobs, hence the chayula.

Hi, so.. saw some posts in this thread about FP and its support gems..

For all time i was using FP + LMP + FASTER CASTING + COLD PENETRATION + ITEM RARITY ^^

Since its pretty hard to color chest armor for this combination i havent tested elemental proliferation and added cold damage(would love to try that) and critical strike chances..

I noticed many people on their THE ONLY item that has 5sockets puts mana leech or life leech as witches with FP.. Good lord isnt that a waste of usefull 5link?

I really want to get a voting pool of FP combinations, maybe even ice spear as main attack?

Im always debating myself how other combinations would work on 5link or maybe 6link. But because it would eat like a 100chromatics i havent tried many different combinations.. :(

This is the list i came up with, id like to see your rating on evaluating it!
