Lightning Buzzsaw CoC

It sounds like many of you are simply swapping to the build too early and perhaps going for content too high for the level of the gems.

I'd say you're pretty much spot on there, I held off on switching to CoC as long as I possibly could, which I finally decided was level 66, since that's the level requirement of the Crit Dagger I had, and my levelling build was really starting to peter out at that point. Cast on Crit is not a levelling skill, and you'll definitely have reached maps before you've actually invested enough passive points for it to make any sense at all.

I transitioned to CoC pretty much just now, and the stats I have are level 16/17 gems, 3K life with Tabula or 3.5K life with proper 4L chest, 60% crit chance with zero Power Charges, and with 5 Power Charges(current max, soon to be 6) I have an 81% Crit chance. I think that's an important and key feature of the build that many people are forgetting, because if you're not critting then you're not casting, and if you're not casting, then you're basically doing no damage at all and all those attack speed, and spell/elemental damage nodes you took will do absolutely nothing.

My experience is I clear 66-68 maps pretty much at run speed, normal, magic and rare mobs all just melt. But I do definitely notice the boss, and it does take me at least a few seconds to take them down. Most of that is because I've hardly taken any actual damage nodes, and my spells are still levelling, so a minor setback should quickly solve itself now that CoC's clear speed is levelling me much faster than my levelling setup ever could.

All around I'd say I'm quite impressed with the results, never tried CoC before, but I'm finding that it's working really well and is more enjoyable than I thought it would be.

Speaking of Run Speed, that's probably where my build and yours differs the most, I'm using PCoC in my Tabula and having my Power Charges and Spectral Throw all come from the same attack, with 43% base move speed, and 113% with my Quicksilver, I can basically hold down the kill button and watch the entire map explode as I rush through the entire thing. I'm sure that difference is more of a personal preference thing, but I do like the simplicity of it all.

I'll make a video and maybe show how the standard char is in 1.2 pretty soon because there's not much new to see on the Rampage one.

Also, I've also been trying the arc/fp combo and while initially I thought it could be the new best setup it's actually not all that great. Arc doesn't chain off of frozen targets and since FP is shooting out 34863094603946 times and freezing everything, Arc is chaining absolutely never. Which from what I've seen has resulted in slower clearing of packs. While yes the single target is somewhat improved, there are too many loose mobs running around/away because nothing is chaining to them.
Would be great.

Also Im curious how you reached 2.2k dps on your rampage char :D
Im 84 and gems are lvl 17 and my arc dps is still just 1.3k with a spell dmg shield (not that much though). I doubt, that my dps will skyrocket within 2 gem levels?! :D
Not that its not enough dps, but I wish I would have a bit more for single target

Nah it turns out I lied. I just checked my chars. My standard guy has 2350 in town on Arc and 2900 with power charges up.

My Rampage guy has 1200 in town and 1600 with power charges. The next 6 levels give me a substantial boost in lightning damage as well as the fact I have far less spell damage from gear on this guy. So yea even with something as abysmal as 1200 I clear pretty damn well.

That explains a lot to me :D

Why the dmg boot in the next 6 levels? Going for Heart of Thunder?
Im thinking about Going for HoT instead of the life/ev nodes in the Ranger area myself ...
I did level CoC from lvl 31 straight away as shadow taking most crit nodes and it works fine and makes the leveling really really really fun!!! I am using ball lightning + freezing pulse

Alot of you seem to be worried about your dagger but for 1c you can get this for the early levels. A bit slow but has all the flavors a CoC wants.

I'm at lvl 19 gems right now and lvl 85 doing 72-75 maps having no trouble on any sort of single targets. That's with ball lighting/arc. Yes, sometimes a certain douchy vagan quest will give me trouble because he can hit like a truck, I'm undergeared and there's absolutely no other mobs around.

As for an update... I've been playing my bow char for about a week and just trying to 6 socket/link a cloak of defiance in the meantime. It took 600 jewelers and I'm 110 fusing in without a 5L. I was hoping to get that going before coming back to my CoC char. I've gotten another level or two today with him though and it's still going pretty well. I'll make a video and maybe show how the standard char is in 1.2 pretty soon because there's not much new to see on the Rampage one.

Have you tried ball lightning and freezing pulse because with herald of ice you shatter most and what does not die straight away will when you ball lightning hits it.

Single target this feels ivvy i have to say but fun wise i love it :)

So the best combo is still ball lightning/ arc? ??

I am also looking into a fire build. The opportunities and also the idea's i have, i never had before in any build so a thank you to you for sharing it with us!
Wouldn't it be better to go into MoM instead of Ondar's Guile until we get a decent 5/6L Cloak?

I don't think so. Without a Cloak you aren't hitting the kinds of mana levels or regen to make MoM very good, you'd just be ooming yourself every time you get hit and feeling bad.

I'll get a 15min update video up some time tonight where I show what my char looks like now, a bit of clearance and what my standard char looks like with 1.2.
