Mines are placed at your feet. Not helpful if you run into Vaal Totems, or packs of Alchemists or Sin Lord style mobs where you need to soften a target area before it's remotely safe for you or your totems.

This skill is not used for damage of any sort. That's what totems are for. It's only purpose is to freeze an area.

Because mine are placed at your feet. If you need to freeze a totem on the far side of the room with 10 mobs in between you and the totem, then you'll have to walk thru the mobs to place the mine. A trap can be tossed past the mobs from a safe distance.

With that said, I do highly recommend that people keep a smoke mine on their person for strongboxes. This build can be a bit fragile when opening up some boxes but smoke mines take all the risk out as you can teleport away before the box triggers.

90% of the time I solo. When in groups, I do swap faster projectiles with culling.

Don't like grouping with strangers much, they tend to not understand how to utilize a MFer in a group.

I just keep it in inventory and use it as needed for difficult stronboxes. I find it's more effective at both getting me away from the strongbox and delaying damage received by the totems as the mobs are all temporarily blinded. Lightning Warp is just my general purpose move around, break pots, etc. type spell.

Edit: To clarify, I think my LW just isn't fast enough yet. I think it has ~30% cast speed and ~40% reduced duration. I can spam LW as soon as I trigger a box and still get stunned, frozen, chilled, etc. by the box before the warp finishes. Maybe this will go away as I eek out a bit more speed/duration, but smoke mine has no cast time which makes it super safe and reliable. Perhaps something others might consider if they want to try this build in hardcore.

I am a bit confused. Does the blood magic connected to the auras mean it removes hp instead of mana?
Yes, it does. This way you will go low-life gaining more MF with Wondertrap and more DMG with Redbreak.
