(Helping GGG in) Creating a unique item: a breakdown of the breakdown
I've sent a couple of emails about my first items, over the past 2 years now!
My first idea isn't off the drawing board yet, but the stats and properties have been locked in! And I have been waiting waiting... So I thought meh, maybe my 1st idea was tossed into the trashheap (apparently it wasn't), so I came up with an idea with 2 new uniques that had them equipped together in order synergize with a certain obscure playstyle, which Rory shot down, saying my old idea is still on the drawing board and I should stick with that instead. Seeing how the game meta has moved on (my original item was supposed to buff discharge, along with automatic self detonating charges on charge expiry with +/- friendly fire (!)), which probably not work so well now that discharge builds are past meta; and it seems that the item designers are incorporating new ideas into GGG-designed items that, where *ahem* stolen from player-idea proposals (ie items that grow along with the player, as Charan said), I am now really really even more keen my new idea instead (before it also gets 'stolen'!) " They have gotten less popular since their initial craze but are still just as powerful. It's probably the highest damage selfcast build that rivals the clearspeed of much more expensive builds. |

I definitely understand the part about not being patient. I actually started discussing my item with Rory over instant messaging; it really helped speed up the back-and-forth. |

That was a good read. I'm actually kind of glad I didn't and probably wont buy a unique, as it seems there are simply way too many backlogged while the devs are busy juggling design time against balance. It's a shame what happened with NuclearRaven but I look forward to their other items, which I hope are still being made. I'm glad you're still trucking with yours too Charan.
