Seems like no one is selling a +3 fire gem staff :(

More like everyone who was selling one probably got quite a few tasty offers when the idea started to gain momentum. There were around 8-10 in standard when this thread started, now there are 2... and neither of them were part of the original 8-10, lol.

They vanish just as quickly as they appear in the 1-month league, too. I think there is currently a 6L one up for sale, but good luck affording it, as it is apparent that the seller knows how much of a hot item they are at the moment.

Also the fact that Flameblast + DD are FoTM really doesn't help!

e damage effectiveness is a multiplier that applies to added damage to that spell. It affects the damage done by the summoned spirits. If for example you link Added Lightning Damage to Summon Raging Spirits, they will only gain 70% of the damage written on the ALD gem. This applies to all source of "flat" additional damage (8-15 or any other fixed value), like the Added Damage gems or the Anger and Wrath auras. It does not apply to % based additional damage (Hatred aura, Added Fire Damage, etc).

+levels is irrelevant for DD (which is used at lvl1), and a Searing Touch is better than a +3 staff for Flame blast, unless you have a lvl3 empower and at least a bit of spell damage / cast speed too on the +3.

I do believe the shortage of +3 fire staves is mainly due to Raging Spirits.

Currently, minion damage has to be calculated by hand. Hopefully we will get some tooltip DPS in the future, I know GGG said they want to put it in at some point.
Look at the main post in this thread, there is a "damage calculation" section (in the staff build) where I do the full math for SRS' DPS.

Do you think a 6L searing touch would do the job as good as a +3 to fire gem staff? Because currently there is no 6L staff with +3 to fire gems available in standard.
Give a man a fish, and you can feed him for a day.

Would a 6L Searing Touch (hereafter referred to as ST) do the job as good as a +3 fire staff? No. (well, this is assuming both are 6L)
Aside from the +2 to fire gems in the ST, the only other nice thing about it for a SRS build is the 10% cast speed, which can be more than doubled with a lucky roll in a +3 staff. Spell, fire and burning damage mods on the ST do not help the spirits out at all.
A 6L staff +2 fire or 5L +3 fire are about on par with each other (depending upon mods and gems you choose to use), but a 6L +3 will always win out.

All of that aside though, a 6L ST would be amazing in place of a +3 staff if you cannot find/afford the latter.

Edited for clarity (no, not the gem)...

thx for the info will check it out
and the tool tip will help when they get it in
Forsaken Masters hype !

With the teased changes to the passive tree, I suspect the build will be better as a Scion in 1.2 (the mana regen route out now has ES in it, it lost the flask nodes, and it's not connected to lord of the dead or the cast speed nodes anymore).

We still know little about the aura changes, but I expect Generosity to be very useful - for Hatred in particular, not sure if I would want to give up on the cast speed from Haste. We do know the aura nodes are still there and seemingly unchanged, so I don't expect the build to be broken this way.
