Speedy Puncture + Pierce Split Arrow / Reflect Safe or Glass Cannon / Level 100 & Uber Atziri Farmer

@ Madcow, if you stack too much physical damage then you will 1-shot yourself when taking out reflect mobs. Apart from higher constant DPS, this is why Faster Attacks is used instead of going for the 100% 1-shot crit (well it 1shots them anyway because puncture is puncture)

that's a pretty good point but really when do you use puncture besides a boss? If you use it for rares often then sure that makes sense.

I was really curious what the best dps setup was for atziri especially because the vaals, trio and atziri are reflect free so you would want your max potential dps.

For all of the other mobs I use tornado shot anyhow. Exiles and bosses get the puncture treatment.

Currently I think I may switch the tree around a little. It seems like I can remove the pierce nodes to sit at 84% pierce chances with a 20/20 gem. The 30% pierce node is over kill since there is no going over 100%. That means I'd lose 16% proj damage + another 16% from the 2 nodes behind it and 10 dex. 4 nodes total. With 4 nodes I would need to make up 32% damage. Should be easy enough if I want or perhaps I'll grab the evasion/resists with +1 to cold cluster.

go from this

to this (extra missing point on either str or int. Technically I have enough from gear)

The quality from Herald of Ice does boost the damge that Hatred adds. If I did my math correct it gives 5.4% additional phys damage added as cold on top of the flat and shatter damage. Quality that shit....

So it's worth it to take both Ice and Fire through 20 levels to make them 20/20?
What do you guys think is a better setup?
to run both
Herald of Ash + Herald of Ice

or replace Ice with
Herald of Ash + increased burning damage

Yes I feel it's worth it. It really doesn't take very long to get them high enough level to where the quality surpasses level in terms of dps. Especially with Herald of Ice.

I haven't used increased burning with herald of ash myself but when running HOA and HOI most the mobs die in one or two shots. I don't think the increased burning damage would actually result in very many mobs dying that wouldn't have anyway. If you do try it though let me know what you think.
I did Uber Atziri again and didn't die this time so now I can make a video of me porting out with only 1 portal used. :3

ez game ez life

if my comp was better I would record a run but it lags too bad, so this should be proof enough.

My HoI is too low to do the compare, also I should have said I use Elemental Proliferation. It seems like with slower/harder hitting bows IBD would be better that the constant damage of HoI. Additionally the mobs that don't shatter leave a burning corpse that will continue to proliferate.
congrats F5in, that's a big accomplishment

also I'd like to say that I've lost my motivation to go through and finish updating my post to 1.2 after seeing many other build threads that pretty much cover the same build concept. Those threads should have more 1.2 discussion and such, good luck rangers!
