Hey guys, I'm almost finished with Act 3 Cruel and I'm starting to run into some issues. I'm not necessarily dying a lot, but I find that during most encounters I have to play far more defensively than I have been up to this point, often having to peel mobs off of groups and not being able to sustain myself during anything other than fights involving only 5-8 mobs. I'm not sure if this is just the way the game is played at this point but I'm pretty sure there have to be some ways I can improve my survivability so it doesn't take me an eternity to nickle-and-dime my way through dungeons. It's frustrating and frankly rather boring having to run away from most encounters peeling mobs and waiting for my flasks to heal me.
Lv.50
HP: 2548 (Only SEEMS like a lot ><)
ES: 204
Mana: 316
Resists (F/Co/L/Ch): 18/75/61/-12
I know it looks like I have one +10 STR node leading nowhere but I recently respecced out of the +30 DEX right next to it to move faster towards the life/resists near the middle.
I don't have Life Leech linked up to Cleave cause I didn't notice a significant difference when it was, so I opted for more damage instead. I've heard life on hit is better for this sort of build so I guess a good start would be to get ahold of one of those.
I've been running with just Anger/Wrath activated since most mobs around this point seem to do lightning damage and my resistance to that without Purity isn't bad and even with Reduced Mana it still takes a good chunk of my mana to keep it up.
So, any ideas? I've really liked the build so far and I hope this newfound frustration stems from me being a noob and not a sign of things to come ><
Thanks in advance.
You need to max your resists and get more life nodes and better weapons. I do have a 53 in HC mercyless and no problems in mobs with enduring cry and granite flasks.

What constitutes "better weapons"? Please be more specific so I know what to look for. Also I'm not sure where to go for more life nodes, I'm following the build in the OP and I've snagged every life node cluster I've come across so far.

Tri-Element Weapons with a high base physical damage and a %dmg increase multiplier. (Rare items)
Attack speed is a bonus.
Craft and hunt rings until you can get decent ones with dual element damage as well as atleast dual resists and some HP.
Perfecting equipment can take a long time though.

High base physical damage does not matter with this build, you dont need it at all, it's a wasted mod.
Just get triple high elemental with high attack speed swords or axes.
I'm pretty sure i specified this in the Gear section...

ok thanks for the help so far, my last question is a bit more of a general one...what's the best way to go about getting this gear? This is my first character above level 30 so I'm not sure how people get this good mid-to-endgame gear. Should I equip the best +quality gear I can muster and farm previous act bosses and hope I get lucky, or just get base items and forge/reforge until I get what I need? Or should I try and trade for it? I'm not sure what stuff is worth these days, I only have roughly 4-5 GCP worth of orb currency...

Dont spend your hard earned money until later in game. This way, you wont have to worry about out growing equips that you spent a crapton on. You can farm maps that are close to your level.
Still, try your best to find and craft decent equips until later on.
Tbh quality on weapons doesnt make this good considering quality wont affect the elemental damage on your weapons.
What you could do, is save all your rare items you dont need, dont identify them, then sell the correct ones for 2 chaos orbs to a merchant in town.
Alright, I'll save my money until later in the game...but that doesn't help my current situation much. I have no idea what a "good deal" would be while looking at trade chat...I'm using --link removed-- so I have something of an idea about what orbs are worth in relation to each other, but I have no clue how to appraise items and determine how much they're worth themselves.

I haven't even finished Cruel yet so it'll be quite some time before I can farm maps...
