ReverendBizzarre: ele cleave templar [6k life, 45k+ dps]

As a followup to my experiment, the 30% from Inner Force does NOT take level 16-19 Purity's 3% Increased Max Resist to 4%. I'll post again if it takes the 4% to 5%, in 3 centuries when my Purity is 20. It does work properly on the rest of the resistance though.
I was interested in if this build would be remotely viable using 1h/Shield. Using a shield could net you a ton more resist allowing you to focus more on damage with your rings.

Unfortunately the way cleave is calculated makes 1h/Shield excessively weak in comparison. Dual wield cleave not only combines the damage of both your weapons, it also doubles the damage addition from your jewelry/auras/gems. This could easily be explained as "both weapons attack independently yadda yadda" but that explanation makes no sense if life on hit procs once and you cannot gain more than one elemental effect such as a shock stack.

Dual wield cleave not only applies all elemental damage twice, it also offers 10% attack speed and 15% block, making total damage greater than double that of using 1H/Shield and likely far superior if your means of survival is large amounts of life leech.
I tried to look through this thread quickly for an answer to this question but couldn't seem to get one.

Anyways..
Is there is a reason you use swords besides using a mace?
I'm assuming it is because of the attack speed but I'm asking just to make sure and clarify :P

I only ask because you can get base elemental damage on the mace appose to using a sword
with accuracy which has no bonus considering you can not miss.

you cant use cleave with a mace, and maces are very slow anyway.

Thanks. I like the Ranger so here's almost a carbon copy for use as a base if someone else fancies the Ranger:

Ranger version (104 pts)

The Ranger loses 5 points from the starting area (18% Evasion and +40 DEX which isn't really useful). In order to keep the 60% armour from Body and Soul and removed 2x +8% Chaos Resistance, +1 Endurance Charge and +30 Int. It's just a base if someone else fancies the Ranger =) It looks like it would be a slower start, though you do get +30% Ele Dmg early so I guess you would skipp the 30% at centre for a while. There's also a bunch of life nodes early on that can be respecced later if more life is needed. By the looks of it life should be ok since you get +56% at center fairly early.

I glanced over most of this thread and I'm really looking to try this out.
My only question is, would I be able to run this with dual claws? Though I like to be difficult I just think it would be something different and fun to try out.
I'm pretty new to the game so go easy on me :P

No. Claws are good for leeching damage, physical damage that is, this build uses elemental damage only, so i strongly recommend you NOT use claws.

This build works best with cleave (axes or swords) but it can work with any other weapon and skill if you dont like cleave, you can use grounslam with it, sweep, LS and you will do good, but not as good as with cleave. (LS or GS is safer than cleave, i sometimes use it in really hard maps where monsters do massive damage so i can stay at a distance and not risk getting hit)

Ok so is this correct then:

What really makes the build is the focus on Elemental Damage nodes (141%+) coupled with the fact that you can get multiple elemental damage mods on the wepon and several pieces of equipment. Thus overall you get more total damage than with physical damage nodes which multiply the weapon damage mostly, while the physical mods on items (non local) are much smaller than the element damage ones.
Btw just curious do you use the SHIFT key all the time or do you keep the mouse cursor near the character when using Cleave?

i picked this axe up in merciless. Seeing all the dual wielder are sword wielders make me wonder if this axe is good for the build?

for level 50 - yes if you have a fast(1.9 speed) sword along for dual weild.

Otherwise - no, on lv60ish+ you will pretty much have to have only high speed weapons to be effective.

Also a question for the others: how does elemental equilibrium work if you have all 3 elemental damages?

it should give like 75% extra damage shouldn't it?
