1.3 The Community's Molten Strike, Face Melting Build!! 1h+shield and 2h variants available

Thinking about playing this build, but as Duelist. What would be the better starting route? Melee phys and life + life regen nodes or attack speed and projectile damage nodes?

Melee physical doesn't help as much as physical damage. It will only enhance the melee hitting portion and will not be included in the projectiles.

Physical damage (not melee physical) increases damage for all.

Hi nefczi,

Duelist will be a bit squishier then Marauder in the beginning. End game they will be the same. Depending what gear you have access to you can either go straight for IR and point blank as well as the health nodes or head the other way and grab resolute techniques and marauder defenses.

If you don't have any way to run or support a BM gem I would suggest heading through marauder first, then finishing duelist and going up to Templar from there.
I'm torn between going IR and not going IR. Haven't done it since my first ever build beginning open beta. Could use hyrbid shield and/or chest. I'm planning on using an alpha's howl so that's already some decent evasion.

without IR this would be the build I'd do

compared to with IR I'd do this

basic difference is:
gain 40% armor and evasion, 20 dex 12% attack speed without IR.

gain unwavering stance, 8% increased aura effect (or other use), 1% increased lightning resist (or other 1 node use).

If i use my alpha's howl I have some base evasion, add a hybrid shield (with increased defense passives already there) I could get some decent evasion. Drop haste and run grace/determination. May have better survivability.

I'm with you there. IR is great and I will probably pick it up and use it for awhile, then eventually as my gear gets better and I have 4-5k armor without it, I'll drop it.

Melee physical doesn't help. It will only enhance the 40% physical portion and will not be included in the fire conversion. If you have Avatar of Fire it won't do anything.

Physical damage (not melee physical) increases damage.

What about "Physical Damage with Two Handed Melee Weapons"(Executioner cluster in Duelist area)?

That's incorrect, melee physical will scale the entirety of the initial hit even if you convert it all to fire. Physical will do the same, but for both the melee hit and the projectiles.

Yes, those will work because even though the projectiles are not melee attacks they are an attack made with a melee weapon.

ahhh ok. right. I was thinking projectiles got that confused.

Guys, first off, I'm not trying to be any kind of competition. But, I'd love if some of you checked out my Molten Strike + Blood Rage Duelist and gave me some feedback.
I'm using 1h mace + shield and at the moment (lvl 76) I got:
- 4,400 life;
- 11,500 armor;
- 76/76/76 ele res;
- -10 chaos res;
- ~6,700 toolpit dps.

Thx!

BTW, great job on the community build!

Hey Dzwonsson -

You really don't need those extra resistances nodes at all. I also suggest grabbing the +1 max fire res and +15% fire resist over the two str nodes in the marauder tree. Also the armor nodes in duelist (except the +% life one) are not worth taking really. Overall the amount gained is not enough to warrant the points.

Just some small tweaks while maintaining the basis behind your build.
