1.3 The Community's Molten Strike, Face Melting Build!! 1h+shield and 2h variants available

is there any vid showing 75+ maps with this build??
PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.

I will not be posting any videos of this build any time soon, if ever. I also converted my MS char into the 2h prolif version for testing purposes so I couldn't make one right now if I wanted to. I mostly update the changes patch to patch and help those who have questions. I have ran 4 molten strike characters so I am pretty spent on it for a bit :)

I have designed a lot of new builds and learned a lot this league from other play styles and may try a version two next league. Hopefully i can make it even stronger defensively while keeping or improving dps.

If someone has any videos they want to share in high level maps or atziri please post them and I will link to the main page.

edit: could use a good free recording program name drop though for my upcoming guide next league.

idk.. i wasn't playing game since march, was using dominating blow build before, and melting everything up to 72 map..

now i tried this build, but without doryani's mace cuz i don;t have it, but i use another good rare mace.
and i hardly can clean lvl 66 map, im disapointed..
its kinda really gear-dependant build.

if there would be any videos to c how it works on high lvl maps would be much easier to orientate..

my cuurent gear is
Spoiler

and i don't know if it worth to spend exalteds into doryani's mace and 5l armour cuz i do not c how this build will work with it.

It's really up to you judikator, i think the people who have had the most success with the build have emphasized defense. Arsenaldo is on page 65, got to level 93, mlangwar whos version of the build is one page back is lvl 90. A friend of mine timbo is mapping at lvl 75 and over hes level 90. I got to level 89 I did find the nerf to max resists affected me in group mapping, personally im not sure if im such a good tank, i tend to overextend in that role and play more on the shadow ranger side now. I hope that rambling helps cheers Fhark.
Btw if people are interested in the potential of this build but with a 2h weapon this is an interesting video,

Its a duelist using lightning strike with a mirrored 2h weapon. (lightning strike scales the same as molten) His tree is below the vid I made a quick adaption here Im not sure why he uses 4 passives to get champion of the cause when 4 will get you soverignty. The dps is 90000 with wed and 67000 or something with it swapped for life leech. Im not sure what chest he is using perhaps Koams heart.

As Fhark mentioned me I'll just add my own 2 cents.

Like most any build gear becomes more and more important as you get higher, and while I don't have Arsenaldo's GG chest armour I've centered my build around a good quality 6-link Lightning Coil and spent a fair bit on upgrading items around it, including getting 20/20 gems on just about everything - I'm one of those who believes you get better value using casting gems that kick in on higher damage, because at lower levels they might be setting off more frequently, but they give off less as well when measured against how much more offense/defense you need against stronger opponents. So EVERY gem is maxed to the gills, except perhaps for a few like Concentrated effect where I haven't bothered increasing Q too much because I'm not that fussed about area of effect with it.

One area that newer players are very lucky on is that so much of the gear needed has crashed in pricing to a point where you can buy many items at a third or better of what I was paying for them 4- 6 months ago, so it's easier to get where you need to be. 6-links like the LC will always hold their price because it really doesn't get any cheaper making one, but otherwise count your blessings!

Fhark was right when he said I was currently running 75's, but I could be doing the highest, and Atziri, at this point. Uber I'm not sure - I think that's more for people with extreme gear - or great playing style!

I'm currently just in cruise mode because I'm trying to level easily and get to a minimum of around 94 to cap my block. As anyone who's been into the 90's knows, once you get there you really really hate getting killed because it can take so long to get that XP back, so I tend to choose the path of least resistance and go at a slightly easier pace, even if it takes a bit longer and uses up more lower level maps. I also tend to run with some IIR and IIQ gear because I am running easier levels, so I can count on getting a decent supply of rares and the odd unique as I go along.

The two things that really tend to limit you with this build are the demands on lightning resistance via the LC that force you to make some compromises with gear, and the fact that being a mara build, the outlined skill tree (or variants like the one I have) make it really tough to keep up Int and dex, so you again have to make compromises on gear, or chase a node or two on the tree to make it up.

You also have to hand it to how good the Doryani's really is, especially for the price, because even though I eventually switched to a Soul taker, it didn't really make that huge a difference to my dps, even with the extra slot. It's not so much a knock on the ST, but a reflection on how good the Catalyst is. I invested in one of the better ones, but still, good bang for buck.

Some of my variations are that I use Anger and Grace as my aura combo, because Anger works better with a fire-based build like this, while Grace gives the best defense of all the gems in this variant. Where Arsenaldo uses Tempest Shield with Blind, I prefer pairing Tempest Shield with Warlord's Mark, while I also use Flammability as a manual curse. I used to use a basic Aegis Aurora shield, but eventually decided to buy one of the better legacy versions, and the 4% ES replenishment means that in most cases the damage suffered from mobs and most rares rarely gets to a point where the life reservoir even gets used. Overall perhaps my gear is a little unique-heavy, and I could probably upgrade the gloves and the Soul Knot ring, and while I'm happy with the ST I wouldn't mind upgrading to a 500+dps corsair sword or dagger to make up for the fact I've invested so much in defense on the skill tree. That's my current aim at any rate.

Oh, and as Fhark said, rock solid defense is really your priority. Chasing block nodes (as an example) isn't sexy and seems to take forever to cap, but it sure makes a hell of a difference when you're being slammed by a nasty boss!

Note - a couple of the gems, like Purity and Ground Slam, are just along for the ride to level, so don't get confused by their presence! And to save anyone asking, in place of the Item rarity and Item quantity gems slotted in on the LC I usually have Concentrated Effect and a 20/20 Fire Penetration there.

Hi,

I'm currently trying the 2h burn profil MS build,
but was wonder how would you go with gearing up towards mapping and end-game ?
weapon wise, I would start with a Koams then progress to high pure physical damage 2h rares. As not having a shield this will put much greater emphasis on keeping your weapon up to date and as strong as possible.

Other then that not much else changes. Keep resists capped and HP high. Spell damage is your biggest enemy. Immortal Call is your best friend so make sure that set up is set in stone as well. Depending on how serious of a mapper you want to become, Doryani's Invitation will help boost damage and give further LL. Also an amulet with +1% fire leeched as life will help tremendously as well. I'm extremely happy at this point with this build, I tried experimenting with my own build but it was a failure, i switched over to this build and honestly alot of my nodes don't match this builds plan but the build still works for me, much better than what i had originally intended the character to be.

i'm now clearing 66 maps at lvl 66 with no trouble, here are my items, and my skill tree.

when i really wanna increase my dps at the expense of less defence i use this unique, i run grace and determination when doing so. This sword was 2 chaos.

Spoiler

I'm still in the process of reallocating skills, but the build is working for the level it is at
