1.3 The Community's Molten Strike, Face Melting Build!! 1h+shield and 2h variants available
" Thanks a lot! I have really been enjoying the game thanks to this build and the responses that you've been giving. I'll get to work on your suggestions as soon as I can. EDIT: Another question: " Does the build only run Grace + hatred? and 4L hoa as a speed clear option? What auras should I try to get running at this point? (just got to merciless and at lvl 53) I've been runing herald of ash + anger and i'm not sure if I you switch to grace + hatred/ hatred and hoa+reduced mana (for dps) or the hoa 4l (just need a bunch of chromes for my 4l.) oh and since I just got to merciless, can I use the three dragons helm? What was the problem with it and the new AoF? Can I use it if I haven't taken the AoF node yet? Really need that 24% resist from the item. I've got 29% fire, 38% cold, -15% lightning (have topaz flask), and -40%chaos (have amethyst flask) Last edited by Nitsujin#6559 on Nov 2, 2014, 10:55:31 PM

In merciless you really need to max all resistances (75+) except maybe chaos IMHO. The flasks are still necessary to stay alive. You need instant life recovery.
As Kartikon has said to me, "You have no Bleed, shock, or freeze removal on flasks either... this is huge in surviving late game." Last edited by VictorStrategos#5455 on Nov 3, 2014, 7:29:33 PM

Hopefully something with sockets and resists drop soon because I don't know how i'm going to get it up to 75 at this point. Thanks VictorStrategos!

Hi, I wanted to share a version of this build that I've been using for the past couple months in Rampage. It's really simple, with 2 Reduced Mana links and 2 CWDT links my only attacks are left click MS and right click Lightning Warp. I run PoF, PoL, Tempest Shield and proliferated HoA with no reserved Mana reduction from the tree and I use a Rathpith Globe (need 125 int from gear) to be 74/75 block capped.
gear:
Spoiler
weapon: Doryani's Catalyst with priorities on the phys roll > ele dmg > atk speed Reduced Mana - Herald of Ash - Purity of Fire (PoF and PoL are interchangable depending on what colors you get on boots) shield: Rathpith Globe with 52%+ spell block puts you at cap. the lightning res and 10% hp fit the build lvl 1 CWDT - lvl 5 Enduring Cry - lvl 7 Summon Skellies/lvl 5 Flammability chest: Lightning Coil, priorities on hp (6L coil > 6L rare > 5L coil) Molten Strike - Multistrike - Weapon Elemental Damage - Blood Magic - Faster Attacks - Fire Penetration helmet: rare, requirements are hp, res, int Lightning Warp - Faster Casting - Reduced Duration - Blood Magic (I ran Vaal Cyclone - Faster Attacks - Leap Slam - Blood Magic until I started doing Atziri, but I found Leap Slam very undependable in a pinch so I swapped it out recently) gloves: rare, as much res and hp as you can find, attack speed would be fantastic but not req CWDT - Immortal Call - Increased Duration - Enhance (with 3 charges up I get ~6 seconds of phys. immunity on proc) boots: Atziri's Step, not required at all but fit the build nicely - hp, high dodge, spell dodge, move speed Reduced Mana - Purity of Lightning - Tempest Shield - Blind belt: Doryani's Invitation, fire dmg rings: hp, int, resists are all required. fire/phys dmg, atk speed, %fire damage are all great but not necessary amulet: fire leech Lazhwar, any rolls will do build:

How would you guys spend passive points as you level?

" Doryani's Invitation Heavy Belt is a great help. Sometimes you can get it for 15 chaos orbs. I had to buy this item. For a while I thought I could find it and other items. The Pyre Sapphire Ring can sometimes be purchased for as little as two chaos orbs. You will find rare amulets and rings that you will be able to use from drops. I know how you might feel. You can get bummed out by being told that in some cases the best bet would be to buy this stuff, but if you save your money, you will have enough money to buy critical gear. Remember you can also make trades. Don't buy anything on the way up the levels unless you need it or you see that you can use it in the target gear you need in merciless and beyond. I tried crafting. So far, I have only created some weird gear that is not very useful. I will try this again when I get some more orbs. I have had the most success in crafting flasks. The costs are not too great. There are three for one recipes that are fun. The bauble is worth using in level 55 through 65 flasks. Last edited by VictorStrategos#5455 on Nov 4, 2014, 8:26:17 PM

Thanks for this build! Loving it.
56 on Rampage Killed Weaver on Merciless 4/5 levels below zone level. Some questions. Q1 My biggest threat seems to be getting frozen/slowed, how to cope with that? Merveil's Daughters are a serious pain, especially a magic pack or a pack with a rare. I chuck health potions and quicksilver to try and dodge attacks and get them grouped so I can take out 3 quickly. Areas with frozen ground and temporal chains are also problematic. Q2 My second biggest problem is ranged attackers tearing me apart while I am in the middle of a melee group. I have to be very careful with ranged and try and circle to dodge the projectiles and take the ranged out first. Even 2 or 3 ranged can make life difficult when facing a big melee group. How to deal with ranged? Q3 Vorici missions. Should I just try and separate the exile from the guards without attacking? Once they are separated it should be easier achieving the objectives. My main is a summoner which is one of the reasons for making this melee so I can do Vorici. Gear My resists are not fully capped but close. I am still using Tabula Rasa, thinking of dropping it for a cheap 5-link.

Q1
For many build simply capped resists + a remove frozen flask. I have never really had issues with frozen with this. Also spell block helps a lot as well later on. Q2 Grace + IR mitigates a lot of physical damage pre-maps and even into starting maps, capped resists handles spells. After that block/spell block takes care of the rest. CWDT + end cry + IC + inc duration makes you immune to ranged physical. Q3 Vorici can be a pain in the ass as MS is an aoe skill. Usually you can just kite away a guard or two and return to kill the target. For the kill no guards but only the target mission, you are better off switching to something like double strike if you really want to complete the mission. Get rid of The Blood Reaper, its damage is doing you no justice at your level and AoF means you are not getting any of the life leech from it- if you still want to continue using a 2h use a Koams or a pure phys 2h rare. switching to a pure phys 1h rare + shield is an option as well. I am assuming since the blood reaper does not say "50% increased mana cost of skills IN the weapon" it is still affecting your MS. This means MS + Blood Magic on 6L + 50% more cost means you are kicking the crap out of yourself more then the mobs are hurting you. just an assumption, could be wrong. |

Just an update on my character. Just wondering about my skill tree and if I'm prioritizing the right nodes at this time.
Gear: I have a kaom's and I also have a 1h mace and shield set up. I guess I could also get a daresso's shield for physical since at this point I only have saffell's Added: Skill Tree: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEAAecFLRGBFCAUdRUgGS4aOBpVG8giryLiJy8n7SmlLOkyfjboOFM6Uj38QzFH4kp9TipQR1W1VvpXDVhjWfNbr14TXz9gS2EhY6dko2aeZ6BsFnKpdO1253rvfNmE74cZh3aMz5AKkFWezaQ5pKykwqcwp4SsqrZBvJ_AGsEExtjQgdIh2WHdDd1G45_uDu8O9kj8S_zF Last edited by Nitsujin#6559 on Nov 8, 2014, 12:06:43 PM
