Garena is adding skill tree resets as a micro transaction in 1.1.3. Thoughts?

That isn't a problem here because GGG seems very reluctant to ban anyone who uses exploits or who RMTs. Cf. the first person to hit 100 in the HC league, who used an exploit that he kept secret until he hit 100. Then he reported it and it was fixed. That person still plays.

Anyway, I have mixed feelings about a paid skill tree reset. I would pay for it if it was available, because time IS money, and re-leveling a character because GGG nerfed or changed something isn't fun. Games are about fun. They are not jobs you get paid for. This would also encourage experimentation.

On the other hand, it would remove the incentive to play more than a few characters, if it didn't cost much.

What I do find amusing is that people who have dozens of paid stash tabs get all excited about "P2W"! I have 50 or so, and I have no delusions that it doesn't give me a substantial advantage over people who have four.

Yeah, I thought he was joking too. To everyone who plays those sorts of games, can you at least have the self respect to complain about these things as they happen, so that people like me can keep track of just how bad "pay to win" has become in gaming.

It seems like every day I come across an entirely new and unique way that game companies have found to be completely evil.

Fair question. Either it was in the contract and GGG didn't object, or the contract gave Garena the freedom to make these decisions as they see fit. Either way, this couldn't have been done without GGG's consent.

Additionally, who is doing the coding for this? Does Garena have access to the source? If not, the programming necessary for this option (the server portion of it to support individual resets after payment was made) must have gone through GGG, too.

Well unless the server code somehow encrypts its database or the database is in some sort of non-standard format only readable by the server code, you wouldn't NEED to modify the game in any way.
You'd simply have a microtransaction in the garena store that edits the database entry for the character your are resetting, so that it has no points assigned and a number of passive points that equal however many passives were reset.


This also means that Garena could technically do whatever they like with stuff in the database, there would be nothing stopping them (aside from possibly contractual issues) from adding orbs and items to their version of the MTX store.

And I think it s kind of bad for Asians people, they should be respected and I think they merit much more than those crap deal with those crap p2w associations.

I don t understand why GGG thought it was ok for them to give Garena to Asia market, knowing they would treat their players as casuals rmters of a kind.

Respects for players is also giving the same rules to everyone. This game is not P2w said GGG, so keep to this rule and don t bend it because of some "asia zone particularism"
