Hi all!
Newbie here, still don't have chance of playing. I'm still in the middle of installation process. I have 64-bit gentoo. Installed vsc2010 and usp10 trough winetricks. Installed the client succesfully. Only I use the Content.ggpk symlink workaround, not the libeatmydata (didn't give me any effect in my exoerience) There's is one problem though. I experienced a timeout during the download process. When I tried to start the client again, I crashed. Here is the log messages

Did you try running the PackCheck? What about the last few lines of the log txt file in the logs folder?

" No, I didn't. Here is the last few lines from Client.txt in the logs folder

It reached 70 degree C. Is this normal? Is there any workaround for this? Like downloading the game files from other source? My connection peaked at 80 KB/s. Downloading 4GB files may take more than half a day. I don't want leave my notebook at 70 C for half a day. |

Guys. Does resize crash bug affects you as well? (when resizing by dragging window corner)
|

I used to have some problems with path of exile in wine, but i've discovered that running it in one core, increase the performance, using this command:
sudo taskset -pc 1 $PID The 1 parameter is the core, the $PID is the pid of PathofExile.exe, you can get this info from System Monitor, this command also works: ps ax | grep PathofExile. It's works very well for me, running in elementary OS (based on ubuntu 12.04), makes the game very smooth. Improving my English.. Last edited by EneMyD3#2103 on Nov 6, 2013, 10:26:41 AM

This is a run down on my "successful" install of PoE under PlayOnLinux(a wrapper for wine & dosbox) on a AMD hardware running Debian 7.2 Wheezy(stable) Uname ="3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.51-1 x86_64 GNU/Linux".
It is a bit long winded, but PoL may be the way to go for some people, plus despite the recommendatios in the original "Install PoE on Linux" I do have a working A?D GPU/video, albeit not the basic 44?? that is mentioned. So it is the 64bit kernel. The GDU/Video is AMD Radeon HD7790 running the latest proprietary Catalyst driver(30/9/2013, Beta2) I had some problems getting the required 32bit libraries load. Basically I multi-architectured as required for PoL, installed the required 32 bit libraries, then I also installed every other 32 32bit libGL library that was already installed for the AMD64 kernel. The last bit probably isn't necessary as I still had trouble. The solution it seems which worked for me was basically to delete the proprietary drivers and then reinstall the proprietary drivers. My guess is that the system goes back and makes all the other library links again and thus fixes up missing links, for both 64bit and 32bit, then when you reinstall the proprietary drivers, the 32bit are still there. Anyway, that fixed all the 32bit display problems for PoL. Other problems are/were related to the particular application. I have WarLordsII (dosbox), Spellforce1, WarcraftIII(BNE not tested), Everquest1 and World of Warcraft running well. WoW framerates(fps) are up on my old Win2000 system where it previously ran. Note, PoL has scripts for the install of many games (hint switch on testing). These are provided by people who have more clues than I do and have worked it out. Hint, you need to follow the scripts exactly as sometimes, a game/application requires a specific PoL version. There are many game specific PoL versions. Caveat, my Wow & Everquest installs were cut and paste of the Win2000 files after running the PoL script to create the virtual directories and install libraries, etc. My install of League of Legends from a script on PoL installed, updated, connected to server and has twice updated, but crashes on play. Anyway, I don't plat it, so no loss Now to Path of Exile. Searched for a script, ran it and went to bed, so apparently I missed some "hours long allocation period", then the next day it was onto a ~4GB download of the game. Then it was register and login. With the DEFAULT settings, it works. I'm currently up to the Ships Graveyard with my first character(Traditionally a ranger type). Note re GLSL; this is enable in the PoL display settings. If it is disabled, then the gaol/jail choose your toon scene shows four cartoon characters from somewhere I don't recognise. The only problem I have encountered is in the Submerged Passage section there the top right hand quarter of the screen would go black. Hmm. Interestingly, the map overlay is still there. Perhaps someone can tell me what causes that. Under PoE, my action display(the game) is locked at Windowed 1024x768. Choosing anything else in PoE bringd up an error message about No Direct3D driver and the game stops and exits once I acknowledge the error. Otherwise, I have bee able to maximise every other setting other than Texture quality which is locked to Medium quality. If anyone has any information to enable me to get this game running at 1920x1050(my screen maximum), I'd appreciate it. Forgot to mention, this is a 16GB Ramm system and the GDU is a 2GB, dual head beastie. so the grunt is certainly there. The CPU is an AMD 6core 6300+. |
|
" Worked for me, once I got rid of an errant "i" Hint use vi/vim or gedit and just save it. Logged into to see swinging boots, woops, those are legs in the gaol, woops brig(it is a ship) char choice scene. Nice, very nice. Dropped my graphics quality back a bit as it always seems a bit laggy at first, then went junk farming in the graveyard; successful. |
