[Official] WINE info thread

Sovyn - Thank you very much for the installation guide and whoever gave you any hints ;-)

Works flawlessly on Linux Mint 15 with Cinnamon 1.8.8 & nVidia GTX 460 graphics card.

If anyone has the resolution problem (if you get an error when you try to change the small resolution), you have to change the production_config.ini (/home/#username#/PlayOnLinux's virtual drives/PoE/drive_c/users/#username#/My Documents/My Games)

fullscreen=true
resolution_height=1080
resolution_width=1920

I still got the error messages without setting the fullscreen option.

Someone already mentioned that in another thread - can't remember his name, but also big thanks to you!

You bet -- here's the link again for newcomers.
There are days when I can play quite confortably, with the lowest graphic settings, and everything works quite well. Some other days the screen freezes when I encounter many monsters at once and I have to try and press all the buttons for the flasks hoping not do day (this results in death 50% of times, depending on how many monsters and wich ones are attacking me)... it's very annoying, I'm in softcore but it still hurts the gameplay quite a lot when it happens frequently (most of cases).

Does anyone else experience the same problem? As previously said, I use Linux Mint 15.

For me this type of issue is caused by programs running in the background while gaming. For example, when my system backup runs, it can lag me out.

Or, you are experiencing what's called desync and is widely documented on these forums. (This is mostly caused by Internet lag issues, I don't get this often, but I'm on the best connection available.)

I assume you are running an Nvidia card. If not, it can also be caused by ATI not supporting disabling GLSL which is currently required for smooth play with Wine.
I'm using Nvidia and no, it's not desync wich I know but it's much more infrequent for me right now. Thank you for your answer, I'll check how the gameplay changes without Firefox in the background!

Doesn't fix the problem. Still died many times to the same problem. And even when I survive, off course, it's still anoying.. :/

Edit: I try to describe it in a more clear way. Yesterday I played with my wander witch in a2 normal, clearing the ancient pyramid. Everytime or almost everytime my power siphon effect trigger at the death of an enemy, with the animation all of you know, there was a freeze for like a millisecond or so, a very very small amount of time but still something you could see. Fortunately my character has good dps and this is the main reason why I survived without troubles until Vaal. When I finally reached Vaal, everytime he used his lightning attack the screen was freezing, resulting in my incapacity of avoiding these attacks (and my character with poor light resist at lvl 29 had no way of surviving all the 3 attacks). So I died many times and at the end quit the game..

I'm 32-bit, Intel core 2 duo, 2gb ram, Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT.

As I've said I'm running PoE with all the lowest graphic options I can configure from the menu, using fullscreen=true and very low texture quality (5 or 6 I don't remember). Using Wine/Playonlinux. I don't remember such problems on WindowsXp, I'm very happy about Linux (Linux Mint 15) as I've said, but being unable to enjoy the only game I play would be quite bad :/

Did you disable GLSL using winetricks? If not, try it.
HAIL SATAN!
when it comes to sauvignon blanc, would you recommend the vintage of 08, 09 or 2011?
I recommend boxed wine. Something from the thunderbird brewery.
