[Official] WINE info thread
" For those who don't have the issue, it's a problem during the Allocating Space portion of the patcher. On a fresh install, this process alone can take HOURS to run (and that is separate from the download). It appears that they made progress from the thread, and it is actually a call to FlushViewOfFile which wine remaps to msync(). By essentially bypassing this for the PoE instance of wine, it speeds up the Allocation Space time from many many hours, to mere minutes. It seems to be as fast in wine with that fix as I have seen it on a normal windows install. Hopefully the devs can reduce the number of times that is called to make our lives easier. The OP suggested just having the devs write in to bypass that code for wine, but I don't think that's the best solution as it makes maintenance of the code much more difficult, and could introduce other bugs. I think just reducing the times it is called would help out dramatically. In the worst case they can't do anything to fix it, we have a workaround now. |

If I had the ability to give Feep a gold star, I totally would.
Talk about tracking down an issue and seeing it through. Not only did he track down the issue pretty thoroughly, but went as far as to submit a bug report AND a patch for the code. Kudos! Last edited by Drakier#1520 on Mar 8, 2013, 7:39:52 PM

OK, I can't find this in this thread so how do I run pack check with my ubuntu/pol/wine set up?
It itches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|

Download PackCheck.exe, move it to PoE installation directory, run it.
|
|
I run it from a command window launched from the PoE Configuration in PlayOnLinux

I guess copying is broken.
Pasting is fine, and ctrl-X seems to want to cut, but doesn't work in saving the text to the buffer. Anyone else? |

" I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about copy/paste in chat or something? I don't normally interact with the chat, so I'm not sure about any of that stuff. |
|
Yeah, pasting works fine, but copying isn't there for me.
