[Official] WINE info thread
" Pretty sure the stuttering happens when loading spell effect assets that are not cached in RAM. There is a fix that supposedly works for Nvidia (disabling GLSL), but not for ATI, unfortunately. |
" Disabling GLSL is bad mojo for me. I'm now using cpufreq to set my CPU(s) to performance, and so far it seems good. |
" Oh really... it makes a difference in the stuttering for you? I thought the full resources of the processor(s) would be already available to Wine without using this tool. |
Its not a problem of WINE, Linux uses techniques like Cool n' Quite ootb, the tool cpufreq gives you the ability to set it to full throttle.

" With further testing, no this does not help with the stuttering. =( I do know that setting the governor to performance is critical for getting World of Warcraft running smoothly. It doesn't seem to matter for this game. It's not hard drive speed either, as it's running on an SSD. I'll have to do some more investigating.. |

I quit, I can't play with these jitters. I definitely need to do more research before I can try again.

Please add "low" option in texture quality. 5fps is unplayable! ;(

" I can sympathize, the extra bit of "jitters" that we Linux users get over our Windows counterparts certainly causes some extra deaths in game. Pretty quick SSD here as well. It's likely either graphics driver related or the assets are just not being pre-loaded correctly in the game and it's just a bit more pronounced under Wine, which is an issue only GGG can fix. Hopefully when they fix it for Windows users it will benefit us just enough to make things a bit more tolerable. Either that or I'll have to break down and buy an Nvidia card so I can disable GLSL. |
" ...extra bit of "jitters" that we Wine users get... (you are not alone. on OSX we encounter same thing... Even moving the content.ggpk to ramdisk does not help anything. |
A partial solution to the jitters.
